I think for like $4000 more you can buy a decent spec '22-23 Chevy bolt EV used. Especially if you get one that was a buyback, since the issue was resolved and they come with a 8 year warranty on the battery as a result.

My only problem with it is the mileage. What car do you currently have? It's far more cost effective to simply keep driving it another 3 years since the cost of 5000mi/year in gas is 1k/y or so at California prices

Obviously he wants a new car. Why cant poorgays understand the concept of spending a little bit more than the absolute minimum to have something you want? I drive more than 12k/year and I like older cheaper stuff so I don't want it, but op wants it

That's a terrible value proposition anon, paying 4k more for an used Chevy. Polestar is Volvo's performance brand.

He's telling OP to spend MORE to get the shitty Chevy.

It also has more recalls because GM is a general mistake

If op goes for the polestar, he doesn't get anything. He's renting a car with shitty restrictions and has to give it back in 3 years.
If he goes for a bolt, he owns the car.
The bolt is actually 8k more but you get 4k back after a couple of days from the government because you bought an ev.

Plus gm was bailed out with borrowed money, so every gm bolt purchase is actually recieving $20k + in tax subsidies. Meaning that aside from it costing you money, it puts everyone else in debt

Don't care, 230 miles range for 16k out the door with an 8 year battery warranty.
It's fricking stupid not to if you have enough money for the down

GM had to be bail out because every bolt ever made had to be recalled and the main battery replaced. I don't suggest it but even a 2017 will have received a new battery and the same 8y warranty for even cheaper as long as it is marked a buyback

If your poor enough to want a bolt, you've already been rekt by the inflation which you are propagating through purchasing these cars.

    >Owns nothing at the end
    >Pays for taxes out the ass because "new"
    >Volvo passes deprecation of unselling stock onto customers while getting government tax credit
    >Paying more for insurance and GAP coverage

There are worse ways to waste money but you know that $1k down is not $1k after taxes and fees right? It is like $5.5k with the 1st month if you jump through all the hoops, $2k of that will be paid for from the costco program leaving you $3k.

      >if you're okay with renting

pretty much everything i've read said to lease EVs instead of buying them

Deprecation on EVs are terrible because automakers keep lowering prices to get government tax money. The good thing about the lease is it locks in the deprecation, so it makes sense if you just want to "own" a car for 3 years then upgrade because you are probably paying less than the deprecation on an EV or high end vehicle. For something like a tacoma you can even build positive equity because toyota offers a lease buyout at the end where you can buy it out and sell it for more than you paid basically getting refunded for part of that lease since it did not depreciate as much.

if you're okay with renting, and continuously renting a new car, then it's honestly okay. There are bunch of "gotchas" that could happen when returning your car if you've never leased before. Usually the dealer will waive these if you're leasing from them again leading to the infinite lease loop.

op, for $335/month for 36 months you could buy an old mazda 323 every month for 36 months.
wouldn't you like to be known as the guy who amassed 36 mazda 323:s over the course of 36 months?
