      What's the appeal?

Comfy reliable 4x4. Good for around town, long trips, offroad, factory locker available, easy to work on, can sleep in the back, good aftermarket.
        Idk. It's just good

          All 100% unequivocally false lmao
          t. ACTUAL 3rd gen owner
I can count of 1 hand the things I haven't had to fix, and similarly the things that weren't a complete c**t to repair

            Almost nothing that isn't necessary.
            >bumper
better approach angle and needs a winch, lost the factory turn signals in the process
            >front skid
radiator hangs below the bumper and front diff is incredibly low and weak, oil pan too
            >Sliders
            pic related
            >rear bumper
better departure angle and needed to carry a spare tire
            >air locker
didn't come with e-locker and was easier than modifying the axle housing/fabricating a Tacoma housing
            >muh 225k
Am baby, I'm just under 340k

Feels good to be in the PNW. They're a dime a dozen here still and super common. So common that I know a guy with a personal graveyard that he uses to part out all over the country for side cash. Buys a wreck/rollover for a couple hundred, strips them down and sells the good stuff. Probably makes his money back in 2-3 sells. Last time I was there he had probably 20-30, not including random shit like blocks and rear axles by the dozen.

32s so only 1in bigger than stock and 4.30s, had plans for 4.88s but decided to sell it so what's the point
To that, diffs are the one thing I HAVENT had to repair. Toyota 8" are strong

Top kek not lying one bit, only diff work I've done is regear and install a rear ARB. But I know this is DA so you're just gonna believe you're always right and everyone else is wrong no matter what

That's the 3RZ not 5VZ. Or maybe 22RE? One of the 2nd gen engines went through head gaskets like no tomorrow

I've done several 5vz's, mostly it's oil seeping out of the side of the heads. You can usually ignore it.

And horrendously winded. To the point if you're anywhere near sea level and want to supercharge it you need to do a 7th injector or you'll ping like crazy. They run ungodly lean. Some people get away with using supra injectors, some people dont, seems to be a real crap shoot.

They're good but not perfect. High mileage examples WILL need a lot of love and maintenance. They have no power, get shit fuel economy and aren't very comfy. You also need to stay on top of your LBJ issues. Here in the rust belt they're starting to get milled out and rusted out and a clean example will set you back a pretty stupid amount of money

Theyre cool if youre a manlet. Sequoia mogs it though. So does the R51 pathfinder.

        rhd vs lhd
I think they made -some- rhd surfs but if so they arent common. Probably was cheaper more than anything tbhfamalam

They're good looking but they're a frickin pain to work on. Toyota took the long and hard way to do damn near everything on them. Could be worse but could be way better too
Their axles/dropout diffs are nice though
