Let's be real, they made the suspension too stiff.

    >it's stiff because consumers are led to believe stiff = sporty
I don't see the problem. Most of them are never gonna see a track anyways. Not to mention suspension setup differs from one track to another anyways. On some tracks having stiff suspension makes sense. On others, less so.

      >On some tracks having stiff suspension makes sense. On others, less so.
Is there even a way to soften the suspension on the GT3 without voiding warranty or some shit?
The Porsche forums either call you names or just suggest different tires.
And Porsche itself doesn't even hint at anything like changing springs.

lol are you an moronic? Tracking a car is immensely taxing and you need a warranty more than ever.

yeah, which is exactly why manufacturers will void your warranty if the vehicle was used on track.

Smaller wheels / thicker tires will help a lot. You can keep the same overall size this way but have more tire and less wheel.

Pretty sure that would void the warranty too

Isn't the suspension adjustable from the factory? It is a race car for the road after all.

      >Isn't the suspension adjustable from the factory?
No. The wheel geometry is, but not the suspension.
If you want to tweak the suspension software or change the springs, you're going to have to do so against Porsche's advice and wishes, so expect warranty trouble.
There's even a very short list of Porsche approved tires.

At least that's what I'm reading, I only started looking into Porsche in general a few weeks ago.

sounds like Porsche just tried to make a shittier Viper ACR. old GT3 and GT2 911s were just stripped down. these new ones are trying way too hard to be what the Viper was.

Euros don't drive manuals because they're enthusiasts, they drive them because they're poor. As Euros catch up to American living standards from 30 years ago, automatics are becoming ever more popular.
By contrast in the US even the poorest of the poor can afford automatic and A/C and leather seats as standard. So the only people who buy manuals are the people who love driving enough to specify it.

Yeah if you think about it BMW is just continuing manuals in everything because euros are buying more and more autos as they earn more. It makes so much sense to it giant like BMW that they're just stopping production even though they're an enthusiast company lol.

The only reason the M4 and M5 had manuals up until a few years ago is because of US demand. The E39 was the last M5 to have a manual in Europe.

To be fair, up until 15 years ago the majority of cars in Europe were manual. It's far less of a novelty over here, which helps explain the skewed demand.

I've heard from people who actually own these that Porsches are the one performance brand that feels like these cars could survive laps around a track and not break down. Not just GT3s, everything from boxters to 911 turbos. Ferraris and Lambos can barely survive 1000 miles of normal use without an engine service. Really makes you think. It's why Porsche can sell so many cars.

I drove 350 km to the Nürburgring, did about 10 laps (200 km) without mercy and drove back 350 km with my 911 several times. The 911s also usually were the only cars that drove all the time on the trackdays I had. All the other cars seem to not have sufficient cooling or too weak brakes for long track time.

If you're cruising in 8th gear at under 2k revs, you're not going to launch hard enough for an overtake.
You either need to downshift, or hit the little boost button.

Germans stopped caring about this when they became obsessed with the Nurburgring. the GTR buck broke them, and forced them to laser focus on getting every ounce of performance out of their cars at the sacrifice of everything else. they've ditched manuals options altogether because DCT is faster. they forsake comfort because its just added weight/makes the car have less grip. they ditch the very traditions associated with their brand to chase whatever's trending as a performance benchmark. now its Tesla.

I don't know how good 911s ever were at racing, because how real life does not match games. But every time I play a game a 911 type car always is so hard to drive, worse than an F1.

If real life is reflected in racing games I guess yeah it does suck, but I see tons of people racing these year in and year out. Especially RSes but not GTs.

congratulations, you've just discovered why 911's make girls panties wet: even they know these cars are hard to handle but for those who can they are actually fast.
this is a large part of why they are so loved: the harder it is to learn something, the more enjoyable it becomes when you do.
suggestion: try "a game" again and use the "slow in fast out" method at corners. DO NOT load up the front, the engine is in the back.
