It’s a rental like Jungle igger is so moronic he thinks the bit from Jackass where future hall of famer John E Knoxville totals the car and returns it is a normal thing like holy fricking shit. Smashing a real car window with a pipe is an excellent way to give yourself a very serious injury. One that for a wrestler could stall their career for months recovering from surgery, or even permanently result in loss of function in an arm that's been deeply sliced into. Most car windows these days are designed shatter into small chunks instead of big sharp wedges but it's still not something you want to frick with.

Oh no! That would have really broke Khan's budget
      >The long answer is that new windshields can vary anywhere from under $200 all the way up to more than $1,500, and depends on your specific vehicle. Some buses, RVs, or other specialty vehicles can even cost more than $2,000. Windshield replacement costs typically include glass, installation, adhesive and other parts, and cleaning.

I don't care about the khan budget, but you break a rental car window you're just making more work for like 5 people for no reason, I guess if you had a job you'd understand

You're just gash mad and coping. If you're a real production and you want to break some glass you buy you're own beater and have your stage hands replace the window or whatever. Some tech at hertz making 15$ an hour is going to have to deal with the glass and the replacement, some receptionist making less money is going to have to do the extra paperwork. Car rental places are renting you cars with the expectation that you can frick them up.

He was supposed to use a pipe but lost hold of it and broke the rest of the windows with his fist. And the "pipe" that he was using was a small piece of metal that was concealed in his fist to make it look like he was just punching normally. I assume in Perry's case they were going to use an actual lead pipe that he would swing like a bat, which would be much safer.

He wanted to do an injury angle because he was going to be gone. I think it was something involving HOOK. And he was told, 'You can do the spot. Go rent the car. Get the car to 'Collision.' We'll do the pretape for everything. And away you go.' So he was given permission to do it by AEW ... and he, I don't know if he rented the car, I don't know what the situation was ... but he goes to the show, and then CM Punk told him, 'No.'
    >"Whatever CM Punk's [issue was], his idea was behind it ... 'We just don't want blood. We just don't want whatever,'" Alvarez continued. "The issue from the 'Jungle Boy' side was the belief that, 'I got this okay'd. It was cleared with the company. And then this guy didn't let me do it.' He felt, 'He's not letting me do it 'cause I'm friends with The Young Bucks.' That was in his mind, apparently. And that was the feeling from his side. Punk wasn't letting him do it because he didn't like 'Jungle Boy' because he was friends with the Bucks."

This is the difference between wwe and AEW, wwe would have this all planned out and would have all their bases covered, how they were going to get the car, what they were going to do with it after. In AEW there is no overarching structure, just dudes thinking this seems like a cool idea without thinking of any sort of repercussions or having a plan on how to achieve the goal, in this case acquiring a car to smash its windshield

        Anonymous

I like how tonnes of guys didn't think that the rental companies are directly involved in those car spots whenever those happen.
It's all cleared in advance with them for insurance reasons. Punk knows that, and he knew that Khan and Perry didn't clear it with the rental company because they didn't think to do so.

because i understand that this is maybe the fourth version of the story punk has tried to spin - notably tamer now that he actually has his name attached to it.

I also understand that, even if no one at AEW considered the car may have had to be fixed prior to being returned, they would not get fricking blacklisted by a rental car company because of it. they would just be required to pay exorbitant markups.

unlike you jobless drones I've actually travelled and rented a car myself before though. you should try than instead of listening to what happened to cowboy bob orton in 1982 and assuming a) it even happened in the first place and b) that it would still happen today.

exorbitant markups aren't the only thing you short-sighted child

keith moon of the who paid 30 grand and still got perma banned from any hotel inn after he trashed the place. even if you pay, companies will be much less likely to do business with you if you do something moronic.

wrestlers already have a negative connotation in the public's eye. it's very easy for them to get blacklisted by a company if they do something funky with their product against their knowledge. basically, you're a moron with 0 life experience.

it's really that simple. again this is just assuming that people who travel around the country for a living would not have realized the car needed to be fixed prior to handing it in, and/or a company that has damaged multiple cars in filmed segments does not already have an arrangement to deal with this exact thing. beggin ya to enroll in your local GED program, get a job, and experience the joys of traveling.

Man, the discourse over this really shows you how brain rotten a lot of wrestling fans are. The lead shouldn't be "Punk and JungleBoy dispute over rental car window", it should be "Tony Khan fails to de-escalate backstage incident between JungleBoy and several producers. CM Punk force to step in". Tony's "nice guy" timidness has always been a root cause for a lot this drama. He should have stood up to Jack after the first backstage official was cussed out, just like how he should have cut Punk off at the All Out press-conference.

the lead is about the rental car because punk added that part to the story today.

the only reason anyone knows about this is because punk leaked the story last year in an attempt to look like a good guy after it came out he kept banning people from collision because he's a paranoid schizo.

I doubt Punk is outright lying in this circumstance, manly because he listed off the four other backstage officials who were involved. If this truly was a bold face lie then anyone of those individuals could easily dispute his claims and make him look stupid.

Companies that rent cars are prepared to deal with damages whether they've been in a crash or just something simple like cigarette burns. Nobody gets blacklisted. They just have to pay for the repair. Tony knew all this when he okayed the spot. Hardly the first time a car has been used in AEW

Because the part of the story he’s leaving out is that he was seething Jungle Boy was on “his” show. He acts as if it wasn’t a problem for him, but at the same time revealing it was.

I don't even really think the idea of the rental car thing matters, if basically everyone told him not to do it, then he shouldn't have done it. Could've gimmick'd the glass and had the same effect, wrestling is about presentation not about whether the stuff you're working with is real.

Really though I don't doubt for a fricking second that Tony is incompetent as frick. One or two things I don't from the interview but Tony being unable to manage his locker room or control his talent or talk to them is like the most believable thing ever.

I mean you have a point in thay 90% of AEWs roster wouldn't be known to the general public, hell even wrestling fans. But since they provide travel (remember how the EVPs are in charge of travel arrangements) then they are renting with a corporate card. If that company gets flagged then either
            >AEW has to find new companies to rent with
            >The boys now have to pull their own rentals

            >then they are renting with a corporate card
Or, they rent with their personal cards and expense back to the company. Or, the company books directly with the rental providers. There are several different ways this could happen but it's hard to explain when all nuance is lost on e-drones that have never actually held a job, much less one that involves business travel.

            Here's the original report:

            >You continue to state things that have no evidence to them.
Here is the original report from Fightful
            >There was another issue with an AEW talent that CM Punk brought face-to-face.
            >Towards the start of Punk’s AEW Collision run, during the Canada tapings, Jungle Boy Jack Perry was brought to Collision to film a segment, and the two had words about the plans that Perry was supposedly pushing.
            >According to those on the side of Punk, Perry wanted to use real glass for a backstage segment. Punk was of the belief that he did this so he didn’t need to come to work the next week, which he sees as a big problem in the company.
            >Per Punk’s side of things, Perry was going against production, doctors and Tony Schiavone advising him not to do it and them telling him that smashing real glass was a safety hazard, and Perry wasn’t happy with that. Shortly after, there were guidelines put in place and forwarded to talent of things that required clearance.
            >Punk’s claim was that he was asked to step in and calmly said that they don’t do that on Saturdays (for Collision) and if he doesn’t like it, he could stay on Wednesdays. Word of the situation had made its way around the locker room, and was referred to as an argument. Punk's claim was that Perry was throwing a temper tantrum over the spot not being cleared and people trying to prevent it.
            >We reached out to Jack Perry but did not hear back.
            >We weren't told how the situation ended, but several that we heard from agreed with the stance Punk at least claimed.

Punk was telling people Jack wanted to sawdust himself to get out of working Saturdays, nothing about the heckin rental car.

Possibly, either way you'd be moronic to break it, take to a repair shop then return it because that would violate the rental agreement, the repairs would be logged against the cars VIN, and then you would open yourself up to a lawsuit. Sit this one out, adults are talking.

Yes, you can go to the local police auction or junkyard and buy a cheap non-runner, polish it up for a spot.
Yes, you can probably deal with the rental company, pay a few bucks to for repair and clean shit
No, you don't have to let a midget ruin your show with spot he thought up when he was coked up to get his shit over.

If yes to these two things, which is confirmed by simple logic and reasoning, and simultaneously, yes to the simple fact that Perry knew to use a pipe and not his hand (Goldberg would have been fine if he had just used the pipe for all the windows) WHERE is the controversy in doing any of this? Unironically even in Perry was on ROH money he could pay for it all himself.
      >WAHHHH HELP IT'S RUINING THE SHOW? TONY PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Because Perry didn't do either of the "yes" lines. He just went and rented a car then decided to cost his company the last of its dwindling reputation, its only major draw, and put himself over at the expense of its biggest show ever. And also gave rival workers the ability to make fat fricking stacks of cash off of it.
