Imo, just get a civic or a mazda 3 or something that is cheap but also a little nice and won't be miserable to drive.

Yes a fricking fwd Versa or Jetta is much more engaging to drive. moron.
OP should just get a lightly used 5.7 manual

I didn't say he should get a versa or a jetta. I just asked why the frick anyone would want a challenger SXT and you started sperging out. I'm sorry I offended your gay preference for v6 automatics

As to why anybody would want one - because it's a cheap comfy rwd commuter? You should be asking OP why he's considered a fwd econo shitbox

It's marked down to half of MSRP in this market, so I think it's fair to say no one.

The worst three pedal will be better than the best slushbox (which a v6 domestic is definitely not,) so yes. That said, neither is a very good car.
Unfortunately there aren't any decent cars at that price point for sale in the US. The options are pretty much either shell out over $30k for a car that should be around that price point, shell out way more money for a car that isn't worth but a fraction of its price, go used and still not get a great deal, buy a shitty car, or save/invest your money and wait for the market correction.

The v6 chally has the ZF8 which is an excellent transmission

No, it's a slushbox. It may be better than a 4L60E but that doesn't mean much. The kid who wins the special Olympics is still moronic.

No manual I know but for cheap and NEW shitboxes, it doesn't get much better. I'm waiting for pre-owned models hopefully hit a nice depreciation while stilling having some warranty leftover.

Are your requirements for the "best" to just be as cheap and dogshit as possible?

        Anonymous

The requirements are how much you get per dollar
With the versa you get every modern safety feature you need, a decently comfy ride and good economic mileage
What else do you need for a commuter?

          Anonymous

Literally any car made in the last 20 years will have every modern safety feature you need. I can tell you've never been in a Versa because they ride like dogshit. They do get reasonably good fuel economy. In no world would I want to daily one over evan a base model chally though, which is significantly comfier, faster and funner to drive.

idk about the versa, but reliability wise the jetta has consistently been the biggest pos among consumer ratings. you would be pissing away all your money buying that junk. also why are you wanting to buy a nu car rn when the market is fricked up and an election looming? if its a shitbox with a manual you want why wouldnt you be looking at the used market?

  10. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

If you're buying, get the Versa with a manual. It won't be a great car, but it should be decent as a daily.

If you're leasing, get the Jetta. It's a far nicer car with more HP, but it will fall apart at 36,000 miles.

  11. 3 weeks ago

I'd get the versa because VW can't figure out how to glue a headliner on a car that'll stay for more than five years

I'd go with the jetta because it'll be easier to mod if it's your first manual, but if you have a manual shitbox already I'd stick with that if possible.

I was just looking at cheap manuals, and I'd rather buy something used for $5k, until I can get something at least in the $40-50k range though

  14. 3 weeks ago

Dont get the Jetta will cost more than that Versa to fix.

  15. 3 weeks ago

If in Europe get the Jetta, if in the US still get the Jetta but save up for the electronic failures you're gonna get a lot sooner than expected

Holy Shit man, the New Market is abysmal.
The 1980's GTI or Corolla FX16 is what you want, but it doesn't fricking exist anymore, neither does the Integra.

I'd go for a an E140 Corolla S or if you're lucky an S Plus.
You'll have plenty of cash left over for maintenance and upgrades.

I'm a bit shocked tat no one else is focusing upon (and lamenting) that no Sporty Econobox segment EXISTS ANYMORE in this fricking country.
In 1992 a Civic Si or Civic EX could be had for around 12,000.
That equates to roughly $26k today.
That segment does not exist today.
Hell, even the Dodge Neon would fit the bill right now.

VWs aare straight, 100%, complete, total garbage.
Nissans are ok, just get a manual. Their CVTs are VW-tier garbage.
