Do you have any friends into?

Do you have any friends into DA and racing, and if so how did you meet them? I want friends with similar interests to go racing and riding with. I struggle to make friends as is.

I met all my car friends from defunct car forums of the early 2000s

I guess you guys could use discord

Damn dude, go to local car shows. Go to the track and do some heads-up runs. Go to an autocross or hilllclimb and fricking talk to people. You already know they're interested in the same thing you are.

What's the in between step between small talk and making friends? How do you ask someone to hang out without sounding gay?

            It's not hard anon...unless you're autistic.

In fact, it's easier than it's ever been.
            >Have an engaging conversation with them
            >find out where they're from and stuff their interested in
            >(cars obviously)
            >If you like them, ask for their number, or social media.
            (number is better)
            >good way to break the ice and get closer is to invite them to events, especially if it's something you're hosting.

            >From here you can start inviting them out for drinks/coffee
            >depending on the chemistry and the bond, hanging out with them should start coming naturally.

(I understand this sounds strikingly similar to getting a girlfriend... And it is, so do with this what you will, but most importantly, don't be a creep and let it come naturally)

the easiest way to make friends at autox/the track is help them when they inevitably break their shit

Should I hold out for cars that I know how to work with or just anything?

Just having a good set of tools and really useful shit like teflon tape, loctite, zipties and safety wire, all kinds of vice grips, etc is enough. Or shade. If you have a 10x10ft pop up and some extra chairs, and someone else doesn't, that person will want to be your friend on a hot day.

No, I'm not. I'm a sperg that's gone through the same shit. If you can't go to a place where EVERYONE shares your interests and strike up a conversations, you are really fricked and I don't just mean on the car scene. Go to a couple of events and don't even try to make friends - just strike up some conversations and get comfortable talking to random people. You ask someone about some small but tough detail, that they did on their ride and they'll talk your ear off. This will make your whole life a lot easier.

If you have a cool car... Or any classic car (that's not a beater muscle car), people will strike up conversations with you constantly about it . I just got a mint 70's bug and I swear everyone and their fricking dog has a story to tell about it. It's starting to get annoying
