And you can't change rod bearings on a V8?

            Anonymous

The v10 was known for major problems originated with rod bearings that weren't up to the task of it's massive redline. The V8 had its own problems as they added forced induction and fricked around with the cylinder coating, but I haven't heard much about the rod bearings in it.

The s65 also has shit rod bearings, main bearings are also shit. people often change the rod bearings only to have the mains spin later on because they didn't change them.

Mine spun a rod bearing 2 days after I got it. Bearings are much cheaper than a rebuild.

who in their right mind would pull an engine to change rod bearings but reuse main bearings

Because they're moronic, rods and mains are wear items in the s65 and have to be done ideally every 80k.

You drop the subframe and oil pan to change the rod bearings. These things need a rebuild at 150k miles anyway, main bearings weren't as big of a problem.

Yes, the M5s are one of the best cars you can buy.
Plenty of space, fast as frick in a line and grips the road like glue

They cover only "non-routine maintenance" issues, so with a BMW that means significantly less than what you think it does. Given they generally only sell cars with good maintenance histories and solid drive trains, the "warranty" they offer is kind of shit in comparison to what you likely think it is, and is likely not to pay for anything anyway unless you are doing something really dumb with the car to begin with, at which point I'm sure they have some sort of user error clause so they can deny payments anyway.
I love my 3 series and the CarMax buying experience was about as simple as it can be, but the days of "unlimited free maintenance" on their dime are long dead and gone. You go to them because their cars generally aren't complete shit and they don't duck around with haggling, the price on the sticker is what you pay (plus tax, title, and registration fees, but those are still way lower that the quotes I was getting at the stealership).

did that dumbass doug demuro frick the unlimited warranty thing up with the one range rover he bought and then made a bunch of youtube videos about how he got thousands of dollars of maintenance done to it? Would they not cover stuff like water pump, thermostat, etc? Ive got a n55 car and ive had all the typical meme issues with bmws. would it not cover that?

I've read that there are very few engine component spares for the F10 M5, and it's almost impossible to get a replacement engine if it goes all German on you. Cars have been stolen then recovered without their engine.
