No, it is Til Schweiger in:
      >Manta Manta
Based movie and DEFINITELY DA required viewing. It is about a bunch of 4 cylinder cope-lords and the main dudes girl starts hanging out around a Ferrari driving night club owner. It has a very weird vibe to it since it is a combination of a lot of elements. It is an early '90s German B movie young adult action/romance/comedy centered around cars.
      https://movielair.cc/watch-movie/1915

Yeah, that's pretty spicy. The story of the Zakspeed Capri that was styled after is pretty bonkers. Though it has very little to do with the street car, it was built to compete against the Porsche 935.

It's a sensible speed. 85 mph is the sweet spot for most cars to balance fuel economy and average speed. Any faster and any time gained by going faster is lost on more frequent refueling.

Reminds me of a roadtrip back in 2010. There was a jogger in a 350Z who flew by us multiple times. Between refueling, getting pulled over twice, and doing flybys, he actually lost time going WOT. The worst things anyone can do to destroy time savings are events that lead to average speed of zero mph.

    140. I owned a V12 Jag XJS in high school and that was the fasted I could get it going on the highway. It was pretty much made for the Autobahn so while the 0-60 on it wasn't particularly impressive acceleration from 60 up to about 130 was surprisingly fast and effortless.

Man, I always thought those were so cool, but I was scared off by the maintenance/reliability. I just love V12 engines.

        Anonymous

I loved it; but it was an abusive relationship. I spent probably twice what I did on the car on repairs and finding an honest reliable mechanic who could work on it was also a huge pain in the ass. The Lucas electrics were the worst part, the engine and transmission really didn't give me a lot of problems but the maintenance was expensive because you had to pay a specialist mechanic and it all took a lot of man hours.

          Anonymous

Classic story. I went through the same thing with an Audi 5000 in the early 2000s.
At least you are prepared for my shitty jokes.

Why do the English drink their beer warm?
          >Because their refrigerators are made by Lucas.

Why do English elevators only go down?
Because they are made by Lucas.

Why don't the English build a PC?
<Because they haven't figured out how to make it leak oil.

But seriously, think about like a woman and you are a well adjusted adult and remember the good times, appreciate what you learned and apply it to future experiences. I'm guessing you are old enough to already know this, but I hope some young anon ITT sees this too.

            >appreciate what you learned and apply it to future experiences. I'm guessing you are old enough to already know this

Yeah, I drive a Town Car now. I was thinking about getting a Jag XJ8 because I still love Jags; but my memories with the XJS got me to buy something dead reliable. Although from what I understand a 2000s XJ8 is way more reliable than my 88 XJS was and doesn't have Lucas electronics in it.

That isn't as crazy as it may sound. Those things could be had for about $5,000 in rhe '90s/2000s because, like mose European cars, the maintenance gets to be insane so people want to get rid of them.

        >I owned a V12 Jag XJS in high school
        >IF this is real you're gonna have to provide some context.

88 Jaguar XJS, with 75,000 miles on it. it cost $6000 in 2001. Like I said, the repairs on the thing cost me more than the car did which is why you could get them on the cheap.

It was a fun car to have in highs chool though. The V12 made me something of a legend, everyone wanted to race me but I turned them down because I knew my car had a pretty unremarkable 0-60 and was made for high end speed. So my car's speed stayed a legend.

I actually owned two of them, the first was an 89 and it burned to the ground because I got a CD player installed at Best Buy and the teenagers they had installing CD players must have started an electrical fire fricking around with the Lucas electronics. But I loved the thing, so I took the insurance payment (I actually made money off the insurance) and got another one then had my mechanic install a CD player for me.

I'd say high school was actually a really good time to own an impractical car like that. I didn't have to drive very far back and forth to school and I wasn't putting a ton of miles on it and the mystique of the thing cast a spell over my entire dinky high school. That said it took premium gas; but I was fortunate enough to be in high school during a period of remarkably low gas prices and my family helped me with some of the repair costs. We weren't really rich; but we weren't poor either and as an only child I got a little spoiled.

    >find an add for 458 rental
    >call him and set up for 2h
    >owner insists to come
    >I think he will janny me
    >short fat guy, my dads age
    >shows me a road with no cops around his village
    >keeps egging me on to go faster
    >end up driving around 250km/h on a public rural road
I think I paid him around 180EUR for that lol.

I was honestly more impressed on how fast it stops. I drove past 200 before, but never in anything that can slow down from it in case there is an issue in front.
Ability to brake amplified the fun more than I expected. People who preach about brakes and tires first are not joking.
The car also felt heavy, it had grip, but you could feel a ton of inertia being jostled around in every corner and every stop. Almost like a lowered and tuned SUV.

240 kph in a rental van in Poland. Americans would shit on the van for having such a tiny engine but it handled top speed runs day after day without complaint. I have absolutely zero problems with big cars with small engines if it can WOT all day long without destroying itself.

Me behind the wheel - about 170kph,
me in the passenger seat - about 300kph.
That was in a Jaguar Project 8 while I was visiting my sister in Germany back in 2019, her boyfriend at the time who owned a high-end auto-repair shop right next to Nurburgring, somehow got that Jag to play around with for the weekend.
