A $1000 car (or slightly more expensive, but nothing over $3500), save the rest of the money, thank me later.

Snarkiness aside, he does have a point about possibly a cheap Civic.

There is no such thing as a $1000 car that is not a shitbox on the verge of falling apart.
$3500 is more feasible, but to get a decent car these days that won't end up costing you more in the long run these days you have to be willing to spend at $8000. And that is very model specific.

Used Toyota Sienna and a cheaper sports coupe that hasn't been drift missiled to death. The Sienna will be better at doing the boring cuckover stuff your outgoing car did, while the sports coupe can be used on occasions where you don't need to be practical. Pick up the right combo, and you might just have some money in your pocket from your insurance payout if you've got $34k to work with.

Honestly, Rams are fricking cheap. I'm even thinking of buying one, and that's only because we have them at work. We mistreat the frick out of them and they still work. However, get yourself one with the android infotainment system. The old tiny one is garbage and it seems to suffer from that old Xerox OOP design stupidity.

Some dumb old b***h backed her husband's retirement-Ram into the side of my parked car last week. Thus confirming my belief that Ram owners are the most moronic "people" on the road, using the strongest evidence in existence... personal anecdotes.

I was sitting in the car when it happened and verbally expressed my disappointment. I shit you not, she said (on record):
        >I have a reversing camera and didn't see you, that means you drove into me!
She kept saying this over and over again despite 3 (three) CCTV cameras recording the whole incident.

      >getting an attorney?
highly recommneded, insurance company will frick you as hard as they can, but the attorney is going to take a chunk. Good attornies cost real money. Never forget, they are not your fried, they are hired guns to pull money out of the insurance company for you, that takes time and costs money. Do lots of research, look for great reviews. Do several free consultations, ask details how much per hour, how much per case, expenses, everything, let them know you appreciate their time and you will get back to them. If one or more seems silmey (better caul saul type) stay away. I have worked with a lot of attorneys for work, on many situations both sides. They can be nice and friendly but the think differently - their minds were formed in law school and through their practice. Be professional, know what you want, and remeber you are in charge, its your case, you make the decisions, its business and don't forget it.

follow on comment, I made the post because you posted your neck hurt, after the accident, that is very important. You can suffer neck and back injuries that may show up now, or later. The details are important. Never admit to the attorney any mistakes. Just leave it out, they can read you. If you tell them you were speeding, they cannot lie for you in court. If you never say you were speeding and the police report says you were speeding the cop can challenge it, but not if you tell the attornye you were speeding. You were drivin safely, minding own business, being a good boy, and some insane lunitic racing his/her/xir car reckless rammed you. Your neck hurts (the attorney will send you to their specialist for examination). If the person who caused the accident is juan from Mexico who is drivning for UPS or some trucking company with money you will probably get some good money for future medical expenses (but you have to know those ads where Bob got $1,000,000 settlement $500k at least went to the attorney.

Went to doctors and no broken bones but extremely tight bodies. We will have follow ups after a week to confirm/deny any long term trouble. We plan on getting with the family attorney next week.

My question for you all involves mental health involvement. I am a retired marine corps vet with 100% disability which includes a variety of physical impairments but the main percentage is for 100% Schizoaffective.

I take my meds as prescribed. I haven't missed a dose ever. I've been without psychotic symptoms for some time. My mood was getting better and my overall well being were starting to improve.

After the car crash I am a wreck. I have a list of symptoms that I am not able to control anymore. I am having delusions, hallucinating, my mood is unmanageable going from depressed, numb to maniac. I am paranoid and my anxiety is through the roof. I have panic attacks and racing thoughts that I can't control. I have suicidal ideations and urges of aggression towards people which results in isolation.

This is all things I was able to manage before. I have a specialty clinic I go to at the VA and we have increased my appointments and medication but medication only does so much and I feel as if I've had years of progress brought to zero. I am considering hospitalization expect for the fact my wife needs me as much as I need her.

Is this something that is relevant to our case? What should I expect going forward...

Any help is much appreciated and of course I take things off the Internet with a huge grain of salt.. but even something little in regards to advice helps relieve my internal anxiety.

Thank you anons and hope you have a good day.

this is definitely something worth mentioning to your lawyer

      >Is this something that is relevant to our case?
YES, and it depends. If the other driver is an illegal with no money, no insurance, no job, you may be out of luck recovering any costs, unless the city/county/state refused to fix obvious problems with the road, lights, water pooling on roadway etc. If the person who caused the accident was driving a stolen Lowes truck and ramed Mr. Tire's truck causing an accident then you may be able to get a payout. I am not suggesting anyone gets a payout for anything, but if you were injured and the other driver is at fault then its fair to sue for damages if they (or insurance) will not pay an appropriate amount.

If the other party contacts you, do not speak to them.

Your physical and mental health after the accident is critical to state to your attorney, if your attorney practices that type of law. You want an attorney who has a lot of experience dealing with those types of cases. I was recently a juror on a case where a homeless woman riding a stolen bike on the sidewalk going the wrong way through a red light was suing a poor woman for $360,000 and the homeless woman could not even prove she hit the woman's car with her bike. Watching both lawyers describe their version of the case was really shocking, but that is the way it is.

For yourself, write down some notes, how well you were doing before the accident, what the other drive did wrong, how the accident negatively affected you physically, emotionally, psychologically. You may forget some important details, you want to provide accurate info to the attorney.

Can having psychotic disorder be used against me?

          Anonymous

          >be used against me?
I am not an attorney, I am not giving legal advice, only speaking from experience from what I have seen. A good lawyer can convince a jury of anything - your underwear caused the accident, too many twinkies caused you to murder a city mayor, even though there is video of you killing someone it was not you. Its the attorney's job to come up with the best response, or any response when they have nothing. The key is what did the other person do, did they contribute anything to the accident? Even if you are partly to blame you may still be able to collect, if awarded by the judge/jury, or if the other party would rather settle for specified amount versus risking the outcome at trial. Each state is different. That is why you need a lawyer. You can also expect the otherside will try to get your email and DA posts to see if you admitted to anything. Not certain, but they may try. So, do not post anything stupid. In fact, stop posting and talk to your attorney instead.
