        >why

It’s like 28,000$ for a 35 year old Chrysler product at this point. The 12valve is the most “I know what I gotted” vehicle ever.

There’s no other reason to NOT want a first gen Cummins. It’s factually and statistically the best truck ever made.

I'm $40k into mine, shit will start breaking randomly.

Did you put the correct oil quantity into it? First gen 6BTs take 13 quarts. 12 Valves take 11.

          Yes.

They aren't worth it, the trucks are fricking trash and the engines are great, I used to have one. Now I have a Cummins in my GMT400 suburban. It's a P pump converted 24V though, which is even more expensive to do now because 24V engines without the shitty huehuehue block aren't cheap anymore. P-pump 24V > 12V though. More efficient and more powerful for the same boost and turbo size.

The trucks aren't actually all that bad.

Yes, they are. The other of the big 3 don't rust like 1g rams. The interiors are just as bad as everyone else's, the stuff just falls apart. The transmissions are crap. Nothing stands out but the diesel drivetrain. If you had to choose a gas truck you'd choose a squarebody chevy hands down unless you're a total moron or going for a rarity like a lil red express, warlock, power wagon.

mine is a second gen, it has a P pump instead of a VE pump and it's intercooled, so the turbo goes through an intercooler before going into the intake

not paying the wienersucker boomer price to get a diesel truck, gassers are cheap, especially 2wd, especially old contractor vans and suvs

a 12v engine by itself isnt too expensive, but i'd have to get some custom manifold to flip the turbo over and a transmission controller, i'd never make up the milage for it to be worth it

You either took the measurements at different times/different locations or there is something like coolant or fuel entering the oil.

Probably fuel, but doesn't explain why the oil level doesn't rise past the full mark.

Did you check the level before you ran it at all? Did you prefill the oil filter? Could be where it went after you drove it m8

      Yes

    >Recently bought an 86 Chevy K20 squarebody
    >Interior light and cargo light don't work
    >Spend about 4 hours tracing back the wiring to the fuse block and find no issues; both the 12v is dead and the ground isn't continuous at the light terminals. The buzzer circuit also suspiciously doesn't have a ground connection, but the buzzer works
    >Replace missing fuse in a completely different circuit (PO removed the fuse for the horn because it was stuck on, I simply removed the horn relay)
    >Suddenly the interior light and cargo light work again
    >Buzzer still doesn't work (not that I want it to)
