      They're basically europe's Nissan.
All those banged up Altimas and Sentras, cheaply made and sold to anyone with massive discounts, fragile mechanical components, half of the electronic "features" stopped working years ago ... those are Peugeots or Renaults in europe

            >If it were up to commies every new car gen would be smaller
Too obvious. Their goal is to stoke division by making you feel poorer and more hopeless, that way you're more receptive to their propaganda. They do this by making cars more expensive relative to your income, pricing you out of car ownership. More taxes, more regulations, more fees associated with ownership. Bleed you dry, one penny at a time. Done correctly, you never realise it's happening until it's too late. And by then, the subversion is complete.

Remember, there was a time when the average British and French car had an engine that was 5+ litres in displacement. There was a period of time when European Ford family cars came with a standard V8 that was a scaled down version of the flathead V8 standard in American Fords of the time. Your governments took this from you because they hated the idea of the 'commoner filth' owning things of similar levels of quality as the intelligentsia.

bmws need to have inline 6 room under the hood which takes away from the interior

So what? You can't call something an executive car but its rear seat is worse than in a taxicab.
Especially if it has more than two doors, so it's not a "personal luxury" or "exec coupe" or some other bullshit excuse they use to force you to pay extra.

Unreliable turds. Lemon laws exist because of French imports

All of their governments and societies were taken over by Marxists a hundred years ago. Tipping flies directly in the face of 'working class solidarity' because it encourages competition between employees and always ends up in unequal incomes between people working the same position. They used to have tipping culture (Americans got it from old world high society), and it still exists in places like fancy hotels and high end restaurants. Plebeians don't go there, though.

            Anonymous

            >Lemon laws exist because of French imports
Not quite true, the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act was made to protect consumers from deceptive warranty practices. It primarily arose because American Automotive manufacturers at the time were extensively misusing express warranties and disclaimers when their vehicles failed. This was a primarily American practice and snowballed both with other manufacturers who were beginning to catch on and with the general public. The thinking of the average American was quickly becoming "If the manufacturer doesn't have to take it back once they've sold it, neither do I!" and deceptive sales practices particularly in the used car market were becoming the norm, the same market flooded by these faulty manufacturer-disclaimed vehicles. State-level lemon laws came in to practice to combat the re-sellers, not the manufacturers.

      >Why isn't Renault sold here?
      Logistics, levies and subsidies:
The American government is trying to protect its failing automotive industry and pushing out huge subsidies and levies. Ggaining market penetration is very challenging in these conditions. IF Renault were to start making a dent in the market the home teams could slash their costs to push them back out knowing full-well the government will shore up any losses. Renault would be out of pocket for nothing. This is exactly what is happening with Chinese market penetration, Biden has increased levies to protect the home teams.

Don't worry, they're gonna do a throwback to the original Twingo. And it's gonna have 4 doors, be electric, and probably full of screens.

      Alpine Twingo RS when?

        >Alpine Twingo RS when?
let them do the 5 first
i doubt they'd bother putting the Alpine name on a Twingo though.

They'll put the Alpine name on anything now. Here's a Scenic "Esprit Alpine" electric crossover thing.

            >Esprit Alpine
That's just branding, like Peugeot's GT Line. Completely different from the R5 Alpine which is a car of its own.

Either way they're using the Alpine name to make boring shitboxes look more interesting, by associating them with the actual Alpines. And it's not like they've never used a tuner's name on a Twingo either, the mk2 GT and RS got "Gordini" appearance package options.

Apparently the A290 is "the first of 3 new Alpine models" though, so maybe they actually will do a proper Twingo Alpine with the same Megane motor.

Renault is trying to relaunch Alpine as a brand in its own right but they're doing a funny thing where they've slapped Alpine on some of their 'performance' models. Effectively Alpine is a badge and a model like the RS

It would be like Dodge making the Dodge
Charger DeSoto at the same time as a new DeSoto Firedome hits the market.

I think the marketing is meant to imply that Alpine models are meant to be a budget Alpine/Alpine upgraded Renault but the marketing has been shit.

Renault can't help themselves, even as far back when they bought alpine they immideatly changed the lemans prototype from alpine renault to renault alpine. Probably corporate hierarchy nonsense.

They did this in the 70s too

Historically Alpine and Gordini were third party tuning shops like Spoon are to Honda and Brabus are to Mercedes. Renault bought them out in the 70s and merged them under the Renault Sport banner. (RS model Renaults being the direct descendant)

Alpine was a bit more than a tuning shop, it made their own cars using in house parts alongside renault components, and they even set up production in spain and in brazil (the willys interlagos).

I've never heard of a Renault Arkana and I'm pretty sure that if you took the wheels of a Rav4 it would fit in an Espace.
Some people here can't find France even if you gave them a globe with a big arrow pointing to it.

They dont have a dealer network and its expensive to ship all the cars from europe just to sell them there.

These shitboxes are also not designed to pass US laws.

No one knows them, why should anyone buy it

Why would I want even a top of the line euro econobox when 50k usd will get you literally anything better. The better question is why are you not building 70s burger econobox and selling them to try hard eurocucks for mega bux?

With 50k USD, you're shopping for an entirely different class of car. Many popular Euro econoboxes used to sell for like 25k new.
Though the prices have risen so much that some of those are now like 35k or even 40k new. Somehow, the sales of popular cars like the VW Golf are fricking dead, down to maybe 1/3 of their best years a decade ago.
Pretty much the only brands that have kept their old sales figures or even improved are Toyota and cheap shit like Dacia and Kia.

This, it's all tiny underpowered "crossover SUVs" (lifted Polos and the like) and a couple of big frickoff X5s and shit for the people that actually have money
