            Audi is a rebadged VW.
Lexus in some cases is not because they improve the Toyota model they’re based on (Prius —> CT different dimensions and gained rear multilink + stiff chassis + other suspension improvements).
Alfa Romeo never rebadged anything 1:1, because the Tonale is derived from the Compass but has an evolved version of its platform and dedicated suspension, the driving dynamics are day and night, this Milano being the smallest and cheapest B segment where literally every single brand on earth shares platforms and rebadges between their brands, is a Peugeot rebadge but at least the driving dynamics and suspension are improved to suit Alfa Romeo drivability.

The only 1:1 rebadges are made inside Volkswagen galaxy.

This is not a rebadge for the sake of selling the same car INSIDE the family brands, Toyota and Subaru are two separate brands who developed a car in a joint venture project and sold it with their own respective brand. It’s a whole different story you inbred mongoloid, also the volume is ridiculously lower than the billion clones of the Golf that are sold on the market since decades

Too late. Sergio should have sold Alfa to VW long ago because VW was practically begging him to do so. The esteemed VW CEO, Ferdinand Piëch, and Martin Winterkorn were massive fans of Alfa and hated to see its outcome. Piëch could have turned it around, just as he did with Bentley, Lamborghini, Bugatti, etc.

And those two are the worst of it. BMW are who moved LR away from simple solid-axle utility vehicles towards glorified crossovers. When BMW bought LR out, the Range Rover still had BoF construction, a pushrod V8, Dana (license built) axles front and rear, and a manual gearbox. By the time BMW divested, every single LR vehicle besides the Defender had moved to air suspension independent suspension, BMW ohc engines, monocoque frames, and so on. They created the Freelander.

          The STLA large platform.
Allegedly they are supposed to be engineered since the start to be fully optimised for EV powertrains with the hybrid option, probably a plug in variant.

        Anonymous

        You're talking complete BS.

Stellantis strategy is to offer all powertrains in same platforms for 2020s. You can get a Peugeot 3008 with an gas or diesel ICE, PHEV or BEV with same packaging.

Alfa is a niche that survives off of Stellantis badge engineering. It sells sub 100k cars a year. Tonale is a late FCA product, but Milano is Stellantis compact platform badge swap - Same as Peugeot 2008, Opel Mokka, Fiat 600, Jeep Avenger, DS3 and Citroen e-C3.

There will not be a new Giulia/Stelvio in spirit. Their RWD platform and Italian engines are dead. What remains is Stellantis 1.3 engine, hybrids derived from it and full EVs.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Toyota actually does it far better. More importantly though, a Corolla gets by largely on being cheap, reliable, fuel efficient, etc. Alfas are fricking expensive, constantly needing to be fixed by Tony, and guzzle gas. The entire point of Alfa was that they were beautiful and exciting, so appearance is dramatically more important for it than a fricking Corolla.

      >Screen with picture of dials just plonked halfway inside it as if someone has hacked it into the dash with a dremel.
      >Background on shitty screen isn't even the same colour as the surrounding moulding

Whoever decided to put a screen in should be ashamed.
This shitty-LCD-screen-instead-of-instruments craze has aged extremely badly on every car it's in, from day one.

You know what’s fun? Both cars have been designed by the same Spanish frick…mesonero literally got famous for designing angry seat crossovers and he even won awards for it. Clown world.

They didn't tell the price for the most powerful model (the red one) which is the Veloce EV with 240 hp, 20" rims, lowered suspension and torsen diff, and the petrol based Q4 model.

I don't like the front end at all, but the rest of it I would like as an Opel or a Dodge. Not an Alfa Romeo. This is a budget-tier effort at best. Aside from the front end, it's not horrible. But it isn't what you expect of a brand that intends to do battle with Mercedes, BMW, and Audi. This is more of an Acura or Buick level of vehicle, entry-luxury focused on value.

This car will sell like hotcakes in Europe, this is the problem.
Alfa Romeo thought they would've gone big worldwide with the Giulia and Stelvio but since Marchionne died nobody was able to drive the company and therefore they decided to be guided by a fricking American (Manley) who did nothing but destroying the brand with the Tonale and this abomination here.
From now on, all the new models will be 100% Stellantis cars, so we will see starting from next year with the new Stelvio and Giulia.

    How the mighty have fallen.

Boomers have something like 80 percent of all the wealth, that is their target demographic and also why everything now is a fat bloated SUV because that's what they all want now. Maybe when they all die off we can have cool cars again.

Its what they want because they are to frail, old, out of shape to drop into a proper sports car. Its what they want because they are used to being able to haul or fit anyone from having families. The global markets need a collapse and reset.

We heard the same things when they released the Mito 14 years or more ago, I don't remember.
They need the B segment because it's the most profitable in Europe.
Even Lexus made a B segment car by rebadging a Yaris Cross

Mito was a good car if you bought 1.3/1.6 diesel and 1.4 tb. Exept for the high cost its a fine firts car

This, Mito's only real issue was the high price for its size class. The 1.4 turbo is a very common engine, with lots of aftermarket parts.

Nobody buys these cars, and I’m not talking about Alfa Romeo only, because virtually every single new premium car you see on the road is leased.
You pay 200~500€ per month, after paying some thousands € to start the contract, according to the car you chose and after 4 years you give it back in exchange for a new one and repeat the cycle.
It’s how the israelites keep people financially enslaved, but with cars.
Coincidentally it’s the same reason why you see every kind of subhuman and low life people driving premium brands that 20-30 years ago they wouldn’t even been able to touch.

leasing is a weird concept. What happens to cars after the lease? Sold as used by dealers? Leased for less?

            Anonymous

            Sold as used.

            Anonymous

            sold again (financed)

            Anonymous

They offer you the possibility of buying the car by paying the residual value that has not been covered with the past monthly payments + 1st down payment either by signing a fat check or by financing again the value, if you don’t want to keep the car the dealer buys it back from you giving you back some money if you return it with less km than the amount written in the contract and at this point you say goodbye and go home or restart the leasing on a new model (if you do the latter the dealer offers you a bonus of usually 1-2 grands on the car you give back as a fidelity prize).

The point is, the leasing has a meaning for those people who regularly change their car on a rather short interval (3-4 years) so they can always have a new and fresh car, otherwise if you plan to keep it you should always finance it the old way or pay cash if you have the means.

what if the car is completely trashed? (cigarette car level of trashed)

            Anonymous

The residual value goes down, so if they buy it back from you it gets valued less than what was predicted on the leasing contract, so in synthesis: you would be a massive idiot for doing something like this

            Anonymous

what if neither lessor and lesse want the car?
i know nothing about this stuff so i may sound moronic

            Anonymous

When the leasing terms ends after the period you signed up for (say 4 years) then you still don't own the car because you have paid "initial down payment" + "monthly payment x 48 months" and you owe the remaining amount of money to finish paying the total amount the car's worth as per the contract.

If you don't want to keep the car then you give it back to the dealership who will buy it from you, as in "we will pay the remaining part of your debt" and you will be given some money if for example you drove the car less km than what you signed for in the contract, because the car is worth more than the initial projections of future value, at that point you're free but you don't have a car anymore and basically paid XX.XXX€ for driving a car 4 years.

The part who gives you the leasing is contractually obligated to buy the car back if you don't want to keep it, that's because they will sell it back for a higher price and make money out of it + the money on the interests you pay on the monthly fees.

    This guy already explained once

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Toyota actually does it far better. More importantly though, a Corolla gets by largely on being cheap, reliable, fuel efficient, etc. Alfas are fricking expensive, constantly needing to be fixed by Tony, and guzzle gas. The entire point of Alfa was that they were beautiful and exciting, so appearance is dramatically more important for it than a fricking Corolla.

You pay premium, you gotta get premium.
