I’m very proud of my Nissan’s Deutsch heritage. The engine is derived from a Mercedes i4 design, the transmission is licensed from ZF, and the fuel injection is Bosch L-Jetronic. This may explain why it’s strangely reliable. Everything else is just simple Nippon engineering.

You're on a car enthusiast forum asking how to make a soccermom SUV look cool... SUVs are never going to be cool. I gave you the best answer you'll get on here. Pretty much all you can do is be an offroad larper or make it look madmax style.

            >You were going to say that no matter what I answered
Nope. The thing is, Volkswagen and almost all other stuff VAG shits out is the most boring, uncool and soulless vehicles one could get from the European manufacturers.

          this, especially jap ones
if it was like a 1980 suburban on mud terrains with a lift and a V8 it would be different, but tap SUVs are just so effeminate and gay, there's no way to make them cool

Toyotas all have the transfer case hanging way down on their trucks, it’s really awful.

Yeah but most do, like the 4Runner and hilux/pickup
            >Transfer Case Crossmember:

This is the last step of the project and probably the most involved step of this project. The stock Toyota crossmember is very poorly designed with respect to off-roading. It is both overly thick, decreasing ground clearance and is made out of thin sheet metal, susceptible to damage. Also, the factory supplied a flimsy piece of sheet metal to "protect" the 4WD section of the transfer case. On mine after it had been bent a few times, I removed it

You mean "exclusively 4Runner and hilux/pickup"? It's something you expect from Opel/Isuzu of the era, not from a "cool kino based offroader" you guys are shilling for.

They actually don't take a lift larger than 2 inches without being unable to get an alignment unless you swap to Titan subframes and control arms.

Applejack sticker on the rear quarter, lower it, add fake Te 37s and summer tires

Nismo actually made factory TE37Xs that fit these cars originally for the Xterra and Frontier in the mid-late 00s

The rear IRS is actually fine for anything other than serious off-roading but it still rides like shit. I have Bilstein 5100s front on stock height, 4600 rears, Airlift 1000 airbags, and Moog HD 4WD springs all around and it's definitely not a Lexus crossover around town.

replace the minivan frontend with something square/angular as befits a real SUV

    I own one

Its nice if you come to terms with it being a SUV Frontier

It tows 6000lbs, doesn't shit transmissions like a GM product, doesn't rust out like a Dodge, doesn't eat wheel bearings like a Explorer, gets 12-17mpg which is awful (most I ever got was 20-22mpg on a long drive back from Florida), and does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds

I would try to get a Armada or a V8 Pathfinder instead if I had the room.

Is it a 2wd or 4wd? And if it's a 2wd have you ever felt like you needed the 4wd?

        Anonymous

Not that anon but I have a 4wd frontie and it's a lot of fun in winter. Any amount of snow on the road, you can get it drifting at low speed and having fun. Then when it's time to get serious, turn on 4wd and you can get out of most situations. Having 2wd with a lot of snowfall seems like a liability.

I live in NY/NJ so no, I also have LT tires (Cooper Adventurers) and never really got stuck, but this years snowfalls were pretty mild.

Try to find a 2011 and newer. Timing chains less likely to fail and radiator that won't SMOD. They're just getting pricey because they took over XJ Cherokees in the segment.
