Pulling .7 g's means nothing when you have a center of gravity 4 feet in the air and have to shift 5000lbs from left side suspension load to right side suspension load. A truck also has a very isolated steering feel and unoptimized suspension. It'd ironically be better to shill the ridgeline in this context than any normal bof truck

            Anonymous

            Skill issue, as I said.
I had no trouble speeding in the corners in a 20 year old full-size truck on A/T tires. It's usually traffic and speed cameras that slow you down, not the suspension or steering arrangement.

Wagons are utility cars, road only SUVs that come off the same assembly line w/o costing an arm and leg for an entirely separate vehicle both for the manufacturer and buyer. They've earned their place in car culture by bringing the gap between car and truck IMO.

Kys moron. Only reason why wagons have been slow is because most of those didnt have performance engines. Wagons never made to be super cars. They were made to be useful vehicles to carry people and stuff essentially, sure some wagons actually can rake surprisingly high cornering speeds no any pick up truck, SUV cant take..

      Sedans are useless gay garbage.

As most other passenger cars, especially utilitarian. Last American RWD wagons did have such engines, though, and later Caprice/Roadmaster had them exclusively. Still got replaced with Tahoes.

There is no way the transmission could've come from the NA MX-5. The NA uses a traditional longitudinal layout, whereas in the Escort it is a traditional FWD transverse layout with shit compressed and stacked together.

They are neat, handle well and look good. Fragile suspension (rework every ~40-50k km), decent engines (Busso V6, 1.9 and 2.4 JTD are particularly good), car sills are prone to rust. Part scarcity has become a real issue.

yeah for the 156 i found rust will definetly be a think to check out
alread lucked out with my 155

            Anonymous

Ehhh.... the 159 is hard to judge. OBJECTIVELY it is a better car then the 156, but in the process of fixing 156's issues Alfa Romeo kinda forget what made 156 such a great car to drive.

159 is grossly overweight, underpowered, unnecessary big with lackluster interior space and replacing the Busso with a corporate GM V6 is a cardinal sin. But it is well put together, reliable, suspension easily last 100k+ km and the design is 11/10 (156 is 10/10).

Luckily for Alfa Romeo the 159 project was half price for them, because GM acted more moronic than usual. Initially Alfa Romeo and SAAB was going to develop a compact executive car together (not unlike SAAB 900 and Alfa 75 before), but GM saw no future in a new SAAB and FIAT/GM alliance so they pulled out of the project ... without consulting details with FIAT. Then FIAT threatened GM with their lawyers and both companies came to an agreement. GM paid FIAT 1.56 billion euros to end the alliance and GM paid for their part of "General Motors/Fiat Premium platform" development costs, despite none of their cars using it. This is why 159 has SAAB's like night panel and so many GM parts inside.

            Nope, it isn't.
Combined with normal door handles in the front doors and the body style that can't be mistaken for a coupe (an excuse some journos of that time invented describing the sedan) it looks out of place at the very least.
Personally that reminds me of certain not very refined Eastern European car enthusiast communities: their members were (or maybe still are) modifying certain body parts (doors, trunk lids) to remove the handles and some other external details completely to get more clean look.

i was almost happy enough with the turbo-5 300hp stock awd, but then i reverse engineered the p2 platform, rewrote a bunch of ecu code, tuned it, and now it sits around 430hp. gapping people who only see a boring wagon is pure joy

What's that in real horsepower? 250?

    That's a compact hatchback.
A hatched version of the Chevy Malibu/Opel insignia. Which is a compact sedan.

I was just on vacation in greece and took this photo of a nice wagon there. All of the nice taxis were wagons. I drive a 08 xc70 in the us. They clearly are the superior vehicle.

Camrys aren't really a thing in Europe, the XV10 and XV20 were a lot more limited in terms of options compared to the rest of the world and they straight up didn't sell the XV30 through XV50 at all, opting for pic related instead.
The name only recently made a comeback with the XV70.

2017 was 7 years ago, anon.
Also there's a number of XV40-looking taxis (I don't know their generations too well) in several countries, mostly in Eastern Europe. I guess it's because they have less obligation to support the G*rman automotive industry.

Kek weeblets are so fricking delusional.

Not a weeblet, just had a chance to compare the G31 I rented and some taxis. A fricking cab has better rear seat than top-of-the line wagon (supposed to be a family car in Europe) in pretty high trim level the BMW has to offer (there's no 7er wagon in their car lineup). I prefer driving and I don't like FWD shitboxes for that reason, but I won't argue the rear seat in Camry is pretty comfy for the money.

Better or comfy for the money? My M5's heated and cooled rear seats are more comfy and "better" than my friend's camry's rear seats.
wagons are frumpy as frick by the way

            >Better or comfy for the money?
Isn't comfier better if we're talking about the rear seat? By "for the money" I meant not getting into higher model ranges like the LS/7 series.
            >My M5's heated and cooled rear seats are more comfy and "better" than my friend's camry's rear seats. wagons are frumpy as frick by the way
Don't care if it's a rental. I asked for the 3-series originally (guaranteed model) btw, but it was unavailable because it needed servicing, which is funny. They gave me a 5er with probably all the bells and whistles available but with anemic 2L diesel engine, and I took a ride in the rear for several hundred kilometers. Felt more cramped than in the taxicab Camrys somehow, and the side cushion covering the wheel arch felt almost rigid. That's all I can remember, sorry.

            >Isn't comfier better if we're talking about the rear seat?
            Not necessarily.
            >They gave me a 5er with probably all the bells and whistles available but with anemic 2L diesel engine
            Well, which is it?
            >Felt more cramped
fwd cars have more space in the back because they don't have a driveshaft going through it
Thinking that picrel has better or comfier seats than a 5 series is fricking hilarious though

            >Not necessarily.
            How so?
            >Well, which is it?
            Which what? Engine? B47 probably.
            >fwd cars have more space in the back because they don't have a driveshaft going through it
If true in this particular case, that just proves my point. The rear differential also eats space, and it has to be taken from somewhere else.
            >Thinking
Don't have to think if you are able to compare using your own back.
            >that picrel
Don't recall the fixed headrests in Camrys, is that an *merican thing? Most looked like pic (I rarely use taxis) down to the panel in the armrest, I remember playing with the buttons and reclining my seat.
