This truck is unironically a huge piece of shit that is in no way worth its $100,000 minimum price tag. What was Tesla thinking? Did they even think at all?

He's barely acceptable now, he's never been good. I think in my [anon] post (the LJN one) I made which you quoted demonstrated how dumb his old stuff was. Watch his old stuff, it's awful. I've been gaming for 30+ years but poop jokes somehow don't do it for me and that's all old AVGN was. I still enjoy it, and I've seen almost all his vids, but it was just a bunch of shit jokes and exaggerated tones. At least in his new vids he states almost-honest opinions but they aren't enlightening - yes I knew Symphony of the Night was awesome.

All EV pickups are selling like shit for obvious reasons. Elon thought, hey, why make a pickup that looks like everyone else's shitty pickup? Why not make something that can do truck stuff but also look cool AF??

    That's it. That's the story.

It's the same price as any other electric truck with similar features. Electric trucks in general aren't great at truck stuff, but they're decent high-capacity commuter vehicles for people who can afford them.

The turning is actually fairly innovative with steer by wire and rear steer. Makes for a nimble truck. Obviously it's not great for towing but not everyone who owns a truck tows.

      >steer by wire
Isn't that illegal for production vehicles in the US? I remember reading about some concept car from the 80's that used a joystick and that being a big reason it was never put into production.

        >Isn't [steer-by-wire] illegal for production vehicles in the US?
Not at all, most cars today have electronic steering and it's one of the biggest reasons I don't like them. New cars feel like they can at any moment go in any direction, not safe.

It is, or at least was illegal to have SbW with no physical backup, until very recently.

It’s not a particularly good idea for a personal car because it makes the steering very different than other cars.

It wasn't Tesla. It was Elon. In retrospect, his decision to invest resources into Cybertruck instead of Model 2 was a colossal self-own and may well have sunk the company. It will go down in history books as the inflection point of decline.

God, imagine if Elon used the massive waste of resources and instead just made a smaller model 3 with less infotainment shit. Just focus on making it Corolla-reliable, RWD, and cheap.

    >What was Tesla thinking? Did they even think at all?
The initial idea was to have a cybertruck out to market as one of the first EV trucks which at one time people said would be the EV model needed to bring about the EV revolution. Instead what happened was that it took way too long to developed, and by that time Rivian and Ford came out with their EV trucks, and proved the exact opposite about the EV revolution as EV trucks proved limitations to EVs compared to ICE as well as we're too expensive. In the end the Cybertruck just became a tech-geek out machine that ended up being so poorly built that it brought back the mid 2000's Corolla problem of uncontrollable acceleration, forcing every cybertruck sold to be recalled.

3000 vehicles for a minute fix. It isn't the end of the world. Most repairs would be done from a service vehicle that would come to the truck. Ford has tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of recalls every couple of years and they are solvent.

Do you even have the slightest idea that a loose cover on the accelerator that could get the pedal stuck due to using inadequate glue on a ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR car is not very good optics?
Have you heard design faults on cars in a similar price range before? Probably not much because they wouldn’t release such a steaming pile of shit in a literal beta tester stage with experimental supply change.

Hey, by the way, when talking about utter moronation, did you know they decided to put the “gearing”/drive panel at the ceiling?

Whatever you may think of the outside styling, the look, the interior features, whatever, is completely irrelevant. Underneath all that is approaching sci-fi levels of tech that no other car maker is even close to replicating. The die cast frame pieces, 48v architecture, etc etc. They are leading in technology development.
