make it a game of how long you can coast in gear without touching the brake pedal. bonus points if no touching any pedal at all until you get out of the congested zone/section of the commute. you also end up fricking off that bullshit accordion effect which makes congestion worse.

wouldn't a lighter flywheel make things worse? i see countless forum threads about people who say it sucked in daily traffic

only if you can’t drive. It simply forces you to be more precise with your shifts. But you’re on the clutch less so it may help him if he’s having issues with knee pain,

If you live in poorgay country or in Europe manuals are cheaper. There even countries where you can drink tap water, but people couldn't afford automatic. Like Russia, Belarus or Kazakhstan.

If you bad at driving you will replace clutch (at least top gear/clutch wheel) quite often. Not as often as automatic requires maintenance though.

      Anonymous

Replace clutch so it'll at least be very light to press.
Use quality grease on splines and all clutch fork pivot points, on fork ball and so on.
      This makes big difference.

Not in slavlands, auto is more expensive.

You will be fine, I am from Europe and have never been on an automatic car as a passenger, let alone drive or own one

Maybe if you're rural, big euro cities have burger tier traffic now and clutching through stop and go traffic for two hours a day ain't cutting it anymore.

As an American over 30, I only have manual cars for some reason. I don't understand what your problem is. You have a car, it has a gearbox so drive.

Now alot of morons upshift too early, so then they are either lugging or downshifting all of the time. Boomers think the engine will die early if it goes over 2500 rpm but that's actually where it starts getting power. Unless its a semi truck.

You can run usually ride 1st gear up to 30 Mph. Then traffic is really easy. Just make sure to maintain the car.

Is the redline less than 4000? This is why you suck. Your car only has 90 hp near the redline. If you granny shift you have like 10 or 20 hp. You are stupid

            > You ever drive an automatic with less than 100 hp/ton? Its worse
At least it won't stall or roll backwards.

Ive driven overloaded 70 HP manual shitboxes with a broken starter in downtown Seattle (very steep hills) frequently pouring rain. no stalling, maybe 10cm rollback if i was being sloppy.

I know a d that's why I want automatic. I'm just tired of smelling burned clutch.

this dude is from Russia and he drives chinkshit called Hover (bootleg Isuzu SUV with bootleg Mitsubishi engine)

Why does the clutch smell burned? You're supposed to launch in 1st, and be off the clutch completely by 5 mph, and then after 1st the clutch only should be used to engage/disengage for switching gears.

So to summarize easy mode. (Again im from Seattle, so ive driven absolute shitboxes on steep hills in horrible traffic)
            >Clutch in, first gear brake on
            > Ease off clutch till engine feels a bit loaded
            > Off the brake and gently give gas as you let off the clutch.
            > Depending on gear ratios and how steep the hill is, should have the clutch completely out at 1000 rpms probably 6km/h cause its a shitbox with a nice low gear.
            > Leave the car in first gear cause you're going up a hill
            > Engine revving happy up to 40 km/h
            >Traffic slows, so you roll off the gas and let the engine down to 1000 before hitting the clutch.

Poster is bait. You will prematurely break the transmission gear synchronizers if you often overuse gears 1-2 by high revving engine. Thats why the most common broken gear synchonizer is at the second gear. You should shift to 3rd gear at 25mph if you want transmission and synchonizers to last long.

            Literally moronic.
Op lives in a hilly high traffic city
He has a 70 hp shitbox
Leaving the car in 1st gear doesn't use the synchros. Only shifting uses the synchros. Granny Shifting into 3rd on a steep hill in heavy traffic will just lug and stall unless he drops back to 1st which is actually hard on the synchros.

Literally when you're in stop & go traffic, dont shift at all. Just use 1st. Only need 2+ when its flowing

Put it in first in traffic and lightly ride the brakes, keep the car from lugging but you can still minimize rolling speed. Try to imitate what truck drivers do with leaving a larger gap and rolling constantly instead of stop, go, stop, go.
