Just watched a YouTube tutorial on how to change oil. It's a lot of work and requires lots of stuff.

Just watched a YouTube tutorial on how to change oil. It's a lot of work and requires lots of stuff. No thanks, I will just pay $80 to a car mechanic every 5,000 miles. If you mess up something, your car lovely is gone.

Bait thread, but you know it's something most people can do in their driveway in and afternoon if you're scared

Where are you going that charges 80 bucks for it? There is a place that charges 20. I can just buy the oil and filter for them to put in if I have fears of them using cheap oil, and even then that still euqals to about 20 dollars in the grand scheme of things.

        >California
There is your problem, moving from California is cheaper than living in it

Yeah but everywhere outside California sucks.

A 20$ you're going to have the wrong grade of oil, have your oil pan stripped, and the wrong size filter put on your car.

Cause lube shops are like CrocoDuck. Better to spend that 20$ yourself, take 30mins to do it and not worry about that shit.

Then they keep your quality oil for their own personal car and fill yours up with cheap oil while you watch porn on your phone in the waiting room

Someone even dumber than you is doing the oil change. You're going to have a constantly overtorqued drain bolt and eventually your oil pan will crack or be too deformed for the oil pickup to work correctly. You're going to be overfilled and your crankshaft counterweights are going to be constantly dipping into the oil and misting up the crankcase and raising temperatures, making your car run hot constantly. You're not going to get them to pay for damages as its something long term, and even if you could, your insurance company will say that your car is now totalled since the KBB value is some bullshit number since they work with KBB to undervalue cars for insurance claims.
Just do it yourself, and you'll be able to use top quality oil, top quality filters, fill to the correct amount.

At least when ya come to me you're getting a lazy MPI where I check all your lighs and horn and wipers and reset your tire pressures

          Anonymous

MPI is included in the owners manual of every vehicle along with various maintenance intervals varying by use type and environment.
I would say that going to a repair shop or lube tech would make sense if you really value your time, but the average moron just sits there and wastes their time anyways.

Last time I went to a "quick lube" it took them 2 hours to change my oil. Its quicker to do it myself. And I changed the oil again cause I don't think they did it right or used the right oil. Also they entered my odometer wrong so now carfax thinks my car has 10x more miles. You cant trust these places.

Cooking food is too difficult. You've gotta have pans or a grill, utensils, potholders... and you could burn your food!

Good for you but what made your helplessness postworthy? Mechanics need to eat too so pay them and frick off.

Filthy lube monkey fingers shall not butcher my drain plugs but I'm not helpless. It is good when the helpless stay safely in their lane and not shameful.

They do, though, as well as coolant.
