Legacy Automakers are COMPLETELY Finished

>The Chinese manufacturer announced plans last month to bring its Seagull hatchback to Europe next year. The car offers premium features like a rotating touch screen and wireless phone charging and sells for less than $10,000 in China. Even after tariffs and modifications to meet European standards, BYD executives expect to sell the Seagull for less than €20,000 ($21,500) on the continent.

>That would price the four-seater thousands below electric runabouts that Stellantis NV, Renault SA and others are counting on to help them bridge the energy transition. Its impending arrival is ratcheting up pressure on Europe’s automakers for dominance in the post-combustion engine era. An anti-subsidy investigation by Brussels is unlikely to extinguish the threat.

All Europe has to do is follow the US in protectionary tariffs to level the playing field against Chinese state subsidies and price dumping, and nobody in their right mind would choose Chinese slave labor trash and its resultant "quality."

The situation in Taiwan is basically like, hypothetically, if the British had won the US War of Independence, but instead of standing to fight to the last man Washington and the boys fricked off to Bermuda and formed a new country while the Brits got stuck wrangling peasants. Then imagine British America claimed the Bermudas as their rightful territory anyway and made all kinds of threats and posturing to other countries to force them to not recognize the island as a separate nation, despite the fact that it legally is.

NOW imagine to not set off the brits' autism every media outlet and governmental organization has to now refer to this legal sovereign country the way the oppressive socialist totalitarian regime that it exists in spite of demands, or else they get globally blackballed by the largest producer of useless plastic crap on the planet.

Taiwan is where most of the world's microchip fabrication takes place so it's an intensely strategically important place, politics aside.

don't suck their dick too hard, anon.
like, yea, tsmc is currently the best, no doubt. but intel has fabs too, as does samsung, as do other corpos. intel and samsung are behind tsmc, but not by a lot. only like a node, node-and-a-half or so.
losing taiwan would suck, sure, but its not like it would plunge us into the dark ages or anything.
and on the plus side, im pretty sure there's no way the taiwanese leadership and/or the US/NATO would actually allow the fabs to be taken. if there's ever a serious invasion, those plants are getting bombed asap
