It did, in the pre "turn cars into computers on wheels" age.

In the OBDII age you can buy a random shitty scanner
Reset your codes after recharging the battery
And then find out if its a faulty sensor or part.

this. Back then, cars were so simple that you just knew what was wrong. Now, they can tell you what's wrong.

Buy a better car next time.
    >literally every job on the car needs his own special tools.
That doesn't need a lot of special tools (e.g. not German)
    >literally every job on the car need hours of video tutorials to get done
That has a good service manual available
    >literally every job on the car needs a prayer to the gods so one doesnt crash and die afterwards
That makes its owner less of a pussy. Idk if such a car exists honestly.

When the nearest Auto-Zone will lend you the tools you need, it's hard to argue that tools are too expensive for the shadetree wrenchhead.

That said, I do own a brake kit like your pic, and I've used it three or maybe four times in the last five or six years.

So it is hard to justify the cost of something that gets used so infrequently.
But it's easy to borrow tools.

I bought mine of aliexpress for like $20 I think. I've used it three times, it paid for itself easily and I will continue to use it.

I made the mistake of buying a clapped out 2011 bmw; it’s so hard finding bmw videos made by respectable white men - it’s all various shades of brown to beige with obnoxious fricking hip hop montages.
        Frick me.

I've been a mechanic for over a decade now and I've been thinking about doing a channel where every repair is done on common cars with jack stands or in a driveway with harbor freight tools to show the less troublesome way of doing it.

I've managed to make do with just basic tools, then again shit like E torx is considered basic in Europe
    >literally every job on the car need hours of video tutorials to get done
I don't think I've ever watched a youtube video when working on my cars, only thing coming off youtube in my shop is either music or some vtuber karaoke stream, I mostly work on my cars off intuition

it is investing. you invest 120 eurobucks to tools. then you can change your brakes all eternity. this pays off at the very first time. youtube videos are free as free beer.
