We knew for the last 8 months, really.
Just now it's the official detailed photos.

I welcome it, nice to see LeMans getting some fricking diversity in their hypercar competitors.
Last year was great with so many teams coming back. This year is going to be better.

Can't run diesels in LMH/LMDh, and no shit they won't put a bespoke race engine into a road-going car. No team is running a production based engine except for Aston-Martin when they finally get the Valkyrie entered next year

because youre a beta. hear me out. we already have unobtanium and fast, F1. theres no point in LMDH or LMP1 existing. since its unobtanium and slightly less fast. they will never put any of the technology used in racing in to their little commuter npc rental spec shitboxes. they will never and have never made a rwd car. Whats the point?

What's the point of NASCAR, Top Fuel, funny cars, trophy trucks, monster trucks, tractor pulling, air racing, etc etc if they never put that technology used in racing into commuter NPC rental spec shitboxes?

That's a false dichotomy and undermines all other guises of motorsport.

First off, last year the Peugeot CEO said they'd consider making the car available to the public with a limited production if it did good at LeMans. Obviously it didn't, so it was completely rebuilt, hence the new car.
Second, they want to make other cars based on the 9X8. Continuation of the X8 series for many of their models. I'm sure much of the decision to actually manufacture them relies on success at LeMans.
Third, you're not Euro and most likely American. You can't buy a Peugeot even if you wanted to.
So, why bother posting and staying up on replies? Question is rhetorical, I don't care to know.

why would anyone want to lamo, every single car in that pic you just posted is the same mcdonalds strutted skateboard with a different egg shape on top. also they all use the exact same transmission. Theres no point in peugeot existing since every single car they make is boring NPC trash.

Because my 208 with 200 hp from 2014 is 10k eur, whereas a gt86 or similar is 26k eur used with twice the mileage.
Yurops have some fwd hatches that are decently fast for our shit roads and regulations due to every other fun option being priced out or nonexistent due to market regulations.

Me too. The things I envy Americans the most about are their lax regulations, cheap parts and cheap everything else about cars.
I suppose we get some perks in yurostani with cheaper jay dee emm cars and such. Also I have noticed that V10 Vipers aren't much more expensive here than in America - costing around 55-60k usd.

nope. real (LMH) Hypercars are not allowed. only stock LMDh Hypercars.

        Anonymous

LMH cars are allowed in IMSA. It's just that no LMH manufacturer does. Aston has announced that they'll be doing IMSA races with an LMH next year.

          Anonymous

looked a bit more into it. the truth is somewhere in between.
there are 2 moronic extra rules for LMH cars to be allowed to enter IMSA. they are only allowed if they have cars on sale in the USA, AND they have a global annual production of 2500 road cars.
so that's only Toyota and Ferrari. maybe Peugeot could argue they are Stellantis if they really wanted to.

            Anonymous

True, Stellantis could just put different stickers on the car, running a Peugeot racing programme in a country you're not selling cars to is a waste of money anyways.
That rule was originally introduced to ban Glickenhaus from running in the US btw

            Anonymous

            >they are only allowed if they have cars on sale in the USA
That criteria only applies to tire manufacturers, not car manufacturers. Peugeot is totally eligible for entry as a Peugeot even though they don't sell any cars in the US.

            https://www.imsa.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/32/2023/11/01/2024-IMSA-SPORTING-REGULATIONS-and-SSR-IWSC-Redline-110123.pdf
            >1.33. Manufacturer means an officially recognized IMSA Official Automotive Partner with an annual production of 2,500 or more vehicles for public consumption and public road use, and pursuant to (a) payment of the standard IMSA Manufacturer participation fee and (b) separate agreement with IMSA including additional marketing rights fees (if any) and marketing activation commitment. Such Manufacturer participation fee shall be invoiced by IMSA and paid in full prior to the first Event of the racing season.

That's because everybody bailed on nuGroup C leaving Peugeot as the most senior factory team with the new technical regs. Their primary competition was Toyota and Peugeot already was a full race season ahead of them.
