Now that the dust has settled: why did poor people from 3rd world countries go so crazy over this particular generation of S-class? I don't think anyone in developed nations even noticed this car existed while it was in production.

Ah you're the silver W220 anon. I thought you disappeared or something. How's the car now? Also I will confess I've never been in a W140 but I have been in the W221 and W222 during the summer. Very big land barges.

Ive never posted an exterior shot of my w220, it is silver tho. Theres quite a few w220 owners on here. I have never had a problem with it of any kind, I think the most annoying thing about the car is the front diff and transfer case are very difficult to service, and once you put in an aftermarket head unit you have to set the clock via pulling its fuse at exactly 12:00

It got pretty high praise as a car since it was on the market, and its also one of the last non disposable mercedes. Then some youtuber made a video on how it was the greatest sedan ever made and just like that every 15 year old who watches fitment industries and donut media began downloading it into their instagram fed psyche

W140 was so good they based the Maybach W240 on its platform. W220 was cheapened out, W140 basically has a ladder frame AND an unibody on top of it.
