I said sovlful not svulful. Very stark difference. The gmt800 has sovl. More sovl than you could ever imagine.

I don't get the big deal about the dashboards. My 93 burb's dash is just fine and it's been parked outside for 30 years. The radio did commit suicide though.

Anything with less than eight lugs is a car, but they are pretty good and I've had several. My 2000 1500 built to flip has a body from one donor, drivetrain and frame from another and various parts from others still. They're very nice to work on so instead of flipping I added it to the fleet seven years ago.

For the plastic it's accurate. My ideal truck would be an early 2000s Ford body/frame/suspension with LS drivetrain but though I have plenty of both I can't be arsed to swap.

You may not like it or realize it yet but early GMT900 is peak GM. The 5.3's have that shitty AFM achilles heel but those were only in the cheap trucks built for plebs. All hail the glorious 6.2l L9H motor mated to the buttery smooth 6L80e. Wrapped in a refined fully boxed chassis using coilovers instead of torsion bars and rack and pinion instead of a steering box with pitman arms. GMT400 are total dogs, 800s are good but they are still unrefined and sloppy. The interior is worse than anything from that era. I do miss the 12 way seats and quadrasteer thst my 03 Denali had. That's it though. Anything designed after the 900 is post bailout garbage and ugly as sin. Even today it's still the same chassis as the ole 900 underneath all the tech gimmicks and eternal facelifts.

4l60e has been around since the gmt400 and is also the main gmt800 trans. They fail every 125k miles like clockwork. I put a shift servo from a corvette in my old 2003 Sierra and it helped with the line pressure and firmer shifts. For $25 i reccomend every gmt800 tard do the shift servo swap. Like I said though, don't buy the garbage 5.3l and 4speed base models. They are for morons and plebs. Get a 6.2l and enjoy the best v8 burble short of an aston martin.

          >Get a 6.2l
          instead of
          >early GMT900 is peak GM
then. I meant most of the earlier GMT900s still had 4L60E up until 2009 or so.
          >enjoy the best v8 burble short of an aston martin

        >6.0

That motor is the same as what my '03 had and 100hp less than the 6.2l. It is reliable though... I racked up 230k miles on one. Everyone thought these trucks were pig ugly when they came out but I guess a lot of people have grown to like it. The rest of the truck namely the electronics are more problematic and unreliable than any of the previous platforms. The interior is a huge step down and I hate the new steering wheels. Still I'd prefer the ole 6.0 to any of the weakotec motors they use now.
My big issue is how GM (and others) went from a 7 year production cycle to changing body styles literally every single year. It's the same as gmt900 underneath but they charge you $85,000 for it. Then they change the front end and depreciate the shit out of the truck someone bought a year ago. I'm never buying one beyond 2013 model year.
