The M5 comp is faster has nicer interior and good back seats. The GT500 is louder and more aggressive looking and has tiny back seats.

So it depends on what you want. If you want an aggressive looking car, the GT500. If you want pure speed, luxury and back seats, the M5 Comp.

      Anonymous

The gt500 is faster maybe not 0-60 but from a roll and around a track. Also traps higher in 1/4.

        Anonymous

No. The M5 has a faster 1/4th mile time and it's faster around the track. It does the quarter mile in 10.8.

          Anonymous

GT500 is technically faster if you get a good launch, problem is getting a good launch. If you're the kind of guy who's going to real drag races with aired down slicks then stock for stock the mustang will win.
Problem is no one actually does this, so on street tires AWD is always going to win on unprepped asphalt roads.
Then again how often are people really racing from a stand still? When it comes to rolling starts, you just can't beat hp. M5 will smoke it off the line but when the Mustang gets moving it doesn't stop. Take this into consideration: the M5 is over a full second faster from 0-60, but the GT500 is 1 second faster from 0-150. Meaning it's over 2 seconds faster from 60-150

            >i-if it had a good launch!

            Anonymous

            it's literally not

Just be happy with the fact that the AWD car will have faster overall acceleration, regardless of surface type. Especially with such a huge HP deficit.

      $70k on M5.
Literally the best sedan ever made.

How does the m5 handle compared to the mustang though? I heard the mustang has magride and weighs less than the m5 making it way more agile in the corners. Also repairs and parts for the mustang would cost less than the m5

I doubt anyone hear has tracked or driving both of these cars hard, read online reviews.

The M5 handles very well until the AwD cooks your front tires on track.

I’ve never tracked a mustang. The customers for these don’t cross streams much tbh.

$70k for a 21 F90 must have very high miles or something wrong with it. that's way too cheap. i would only buy one from a bmw dealership, most everything else is going to be an auction car.

damn.. well I guess they are kind of worth it? I normally dont fanboy over new cars (new 330i is a 4cyl turbo and has same power as almost a 20 year old e90 330i which is a NA 6cyl, really bmw?) but frick the m5 cs looks to be engineered to do a job and it does it proper

          Anonymous

honestly not really in my opinion. the extra power it adds is less than a jb4/racechip piggyback will give you. the real benefit to the CS is the weight reduction which is done mainly through the lightweight carbon seats and the carbon ceramic brakes. you can get the brakes on a comp or even base trim, and the base heated/ventilated/massaging seats are one of the best parts of the car imo so if you're dropping those to save a little weight you might as well just get an M3.

            Anonymous

thats the point though, an m3 is better suited for track, but a 5 series which is just as fast if not faster is a big frick you coming straight to you thanks to good engineering
like how tons of tiny little things add up (regular m5(&comp)) and then you put an extra bit of effort and it suddenly gaps and outcorners supercars, that for me is why I think its special

            and for OP
            100K for a mustang
            pls

            Anonymous

yeah sure it does things it shouldn't be able to do, but really they're going for $150k because they're basically a collector's car. you'd have to be mad to track one. they still weigh 4100 lbs.

if you want an actual M5 track weapon buy an '18 comp with carbon ceramics for $65k, put race buckets in it with a jb4 tune and you'll be hanging with a CS on the track for half the cost. then pull the motor and do rods, downpipes, a tune, and you'll do low 10s, add pure turbos and you'll do 9s. all for probably just under $100k.

How does an '18 M5 compare to one from 2021 and up? Is there any difference in reliability?

            Anonymous

they're basically the same mechanically. a lot of people complained the early comp models ride was way too harsh so the comp suspension was improved i think starting in 2020 with bits from the M8. main difference between 18 and 21 is the 21+ are LCI (facelift) models, so will have the different front end and taillights. they also 'upgraded' the digital dash in 2020 i believe. it used to have traditional dials albeit digital, but in later years it's some new fancy UI that doesn't look like a traditional gauge cluster. they also removed some of the physical engine/suspension/steering config buttons from the center console and put them in the idrive instead.

ok. lets have a look on what experienced drivers and good tires can do.

2 s fast than megane time with rwd and again a better power-to-weight ratio (3.86 kg/hp) also way more torque.

If you’re filthy rich and can afford the Mustang as a showy toy car, just get a ferrari instead.
If you’re not filthy rich, I’m assuming the car will be used sometimes for stuff other than burn-outs or drag races, and you’ll appreciate the nicer interior and better build quality in those instances. Both manufacturers are known for shitty reliability, but my BMW (a trouble free model) was perfect and I’ve only ever seen issues with mustangs. So you’ll most likely save money with the BMW and have a faster, more comfortable, more reliable, and better built car. It also looks fine for parking at work and attracts less attention, if that’s something you appreciate.
