>Super car handling
>Most expensive trim was 60k (adjusted for inflation, more performance per dollar than even the GTR in 2007)

GM will never accidentally release a car this good ever again, will they.
>GM realizing they were selling something that was a better value proposition than even their own corvette, proceeded to increase the price of the Camaro
>there was never any advertisement for the camaro. no one knew how good the handling was
>race car drivers upon driving them realized they were the ultimate driver's car and started buying them for themselves

Post cars that manufacturers never thought would be as good as they were.

I'll never be able to have a custom ordered fresh virgin camaro.
You old people don't know how good you had it.
You never bought these cars new and just b***hed and moaned about fun cars not being produced anymore.

Other than the Accord from the 90s the only real reason Honda had such runaway popularity in America

This was always the curse of the Camaro. Always great cars for their performance profile, but always missing whatever it is Ford does with Mustang to keep sales high enough to justify them. Camaro could have been the most perfect performance car ever created, if no one was buying them, GM had no reason to keep building them.

How does mazda and toyota justify the poopra/gr86 and miata that all sell far worse?

Those sell outside of America in numbers large enough to matter, and quite frankly GM doesn't have a Akio Toyoda perfectly fine with selling cars he personally likes at a loss.

even if you count all the markets they supposedly sell in, they still don't come close to camaro numbers.

So they claim to sell those cars in Europe Australia Japan? You're telling me I can't buy a Miata in Australia or a GR86 in UK?

You should redirect your ire to GM for refusing to export the car like Ford did with the Mustang. They sold enough to justify the excess capacity to build sports cars at a loss instead of crossovers

you can, its just that hardly anyone does.

you seem to be getting really defensive that the camaro not only handles better than these cars, but sold better than them too.

Ok, then how come GM saw it fit to discontinue the car while Toyota and Mazda didn't discontinue their cars. It's because it wasn't selling as well as expected. Ford still made a new Mustang too.

You're the one getting defensive, not me. The car im shilling for is still selling, while yours isn't

            >then how come GM saw it fit to discontinue the car while Toyota and Mazda didn't discontinue their cars
that's what i'm asking. considering the Camaro was clearly more popular with enthusiast than anything from toyota or mazda.

            Anonymous

Here's the reason. Not "enthusiast". The amount of them buying cars is a drop in the bucket vs normies buying crossovers. The factory building Camaros will likely get repurposed to make Buick Lamb Trucks or whatever EV shit pile GM thinks will sell in China.

Miata is to Mazda like the Corvette is to GM so that's not going away anytime soon. And the Toyoda family is personally invested in making sports cars part of Toyota since Akio became head of the company.

            >Miata is to Mazda like the Corvette is to GM so that's not going away anytime soon.
the only reason its even here is because of Fiat. it'll likely be going away if Mazda doesn't find another partner to split the development bill.

            Anonymous

And it's ironic because the Miata outsold the Fiata by 5:1. Honestly the Fiata wasn't even that good. The engine really wasn't suited for a sports car with its low redline and the metallurgy on them kinda sucks (they lose compression and they're hard to tune). Maybe the next partner will ironically be Toyota with the S-FR....they're already saying it's going to be a hybrid since the ND came out.

            Anonymous

Because Mazda is stupid and are too stubborn to accept that convertibles are dead. Look at any car with a convertible option and it makes up 10-15% of sales. 50% of ND sales are RFs despite it being a $5000 option that only makes the car heavier and slower because people don't want convertibles. They were trendy in the 80s/90s but that was a long time ago. If they released a coupe tomorrow it would be the best selling Miata of all time.

You realize stocks have had nothing to do with actual productivity and gross profitability with companies for the last 3 decades in the US right. They honestly get better stock increases from car concepts of any sorts than sales. Halo cars have almost essentially died out because of this. Actually producing a concept that bumped stocks holds the company value which in todays world matters a lot more to executive and middle management.

Have to know a lot more data than just sales numbers to answer that. The Miata is an institution itself. Mazda specifically doesn't just make money off them selling street cars.

Unironically the 2010 camaros were missing soul. Even the new edge and current stangs still had body lines and styling that harkened back to their past iterations. Every new camaro just looked like a weird cube.

GM let the "Lol no visibility" meme go unchecked for the ENTIRE 15 YEAR RUN of the new Camaro. They didn't even try to fight it with marketing despite there being even worse-vis cars.

Camaro from the start was meant to compete with Mustang. I'm not sure how Camaro sales could ever exceed Mustang unless specific years like the release of the 5th gen after revealing it on Transformers kek.
If your car is meant solely to compete with something, you will create a better product, but you will not sell as much. When people think of an affordable muscle car, the first thought will always be Mustang over Camaro.
I think that is the real curse.

Name plate and badge. Normies and others can recongnize a chevy badge and the name camaro means nothing in normal conversation. Mustang brings to mind pony cars or horsepower in the name. Corvette has its own badge. should have brought it back as the firebird and made it appeal to the younger generation more. Hellcat and Demon both recognize this and pay to get their names in pop music.

Camaro is dead because it broke the cardinal GM sin of being better than the corvette. the engineers tried their best by giving it a shitty interior, but once the higher ups saw the specs sheets and track times it was only a matter of time.

Mustang always wins because it remembers that it is a GT car and not a pure sports car, Camaro always tries to be more sporty which makes them harder to sell

How does mazda and toyota justify the poopra/gr86 and miata that all sell far worse?

Management and sales. Toyota sells so fricking much that they can afford several different cars that are sold at a loss, and Mazda refuses to kill the miata.

product placement from a movie that hasn't been popular in 10 years is not indicative of actual advertisement. you might as well say the new poopra is still getting advertisement from the fast and the furious, even though the 4th gen is what appears and not the latest gen.

          yes
chevy's v6 has a moronic ass timing chain design that utilizes three individual chains for no conceivable reason
chain 1 is driven by the crank and turns a pair of idlers
chain 2 and 3 go from idlers to the cams
it's gay as frick and tough to work on
