Personally I'm a big fan of having reduced road noise, better insulation, more headroom, and no leaks.
Remember that ttops were literally invented as cope when car makers thought convertibles were going to get banned. They're compromise products that have no individual benefits or reason for existing other than because the objectively superior alternative was illegal

Convertibles are heavier and personally I don't like how the top looks when up
      >reduced road noise, better insulation
A Vette is going to have those things regardless and besides, any road noise is going to be drowned out by the V8 and blaring sound system
      >no leaks
      Haven't had this issue

It's a game changer having open air around you

        >It's a game changer having open air around you
I know, but having unobstructed peripheral view of the outside and nothing behind the back of my head except the headrest was also a game changer for me.

    never understood these
rode a few times in cars without tops
    just a frickload of wind

Next time do that in a place with nice weather and nice scenery.

        >nice weather and nice scenery.
        that's where I rode, on S2000
small amount of increase in scenery driver can see without the top is compensated by the incredible wind noise
I'm 6'4, so I also had "wind in my hair" due to manlet car windshield the entire trip, which was not particularly pleasurable
maybe this works for very specific locations and cars

          >incredible wind noise
Pull the windows up and don't drive much faster than, idk, 100 kph? Works on my machine, and it's a 4-seater without any wind deflector beside me. 2-seaters are usually better in this regard. I can't even say it's the noise that bothers me at higher speeds, it's usually the wind itself against the uncovered parts of my body.
          >manlet car
Maybe that's the problem, most Nip cars are for manlets.
          >maybe this works for very specific locations and cars
Yeah, driving without roof isn't for the highways either. What other convertibles have you tried?

Personally I'd have gotten a hardtop instead of a targa if the C8 offered it.
The targa is fine, I just literally never use it and never plan to.

the roll-down rear window makes for godtier aero. not that you really need it for double digit horsepower.

My car doesn't have a roof at all. I'll probably make some sort of bikini top when I build a better cage for it though.

I'd like to see one done without the agressive modern Cadillac-esque styling. You can actually get hard tops for the 7, but they're pretty ugly.
I'd like to build a cool body for mine, but not sure exactly what I want to build yet.

Cool to see someone who drives theirs. Pls consider a thread on your build and any advice you have. Make it a separate thread.

I didn't build most of the car. I traded another shitbox for it and it was 80% done when I got my hands on it. I just got the driveline finished and did some suspension work. That being said, I'll probably tear it back down to the frame next winter and do a full rebuild, so I'll definitely post some info when I do that.
Still in the shakedown phase, but I've been ripping it in the snow for parts runs. It's a really fun car.

No, I don't bother fricking around with having to remove a top - I flip two latches and drop the ragtop without even getting out of the seat. Thank you, Chrysler and your whacky-ass ragtop Dakota idea.
