Tesla Model S Plaid

I mean, really, how can anyone even compete with this? This isn't some ultra compromised cramped 2 seater. It's a roomy 5 seat liftback grand touring sedan. Nothing else even comes close to offering this combination of crazy stupid power and daily livability for the price.

        If I'm paying $60-90k I'd rather just get a G80 M3 even used

But i could do a plaid for $30-40k if it's gonna be my only car. They're great if you have a long commute to eat miles with, lots of traffic, and can charge it at home.

        Damn you weren’t lying.
I guess my only complaints are
        -shite Tesla build quality
        -sheer expense of replacing/fixing shit
-fire (don’t know how substantial this is, but I’d kms if the fire didn’t, imagine lighting my home and family ablaze because I just wanted to charge my fun car)
This is hypercar level performance in my price range, just lots of worries of this shit. Never had an EV either

The vast majority of "issues" receive unbalanced reporting by media, making them seem more common than they really are. Having followed this space very closely and listening to reports from owners, the worst things you'll typically have with a Tesla are slightly misaligned exterior panels and a few interior rattles and squeaks (which Tesla service can fix). Occasionally, you might have a faulty sensor or other small electronic part that needs to be fixed, but these are less common. The major powertrain components are generally very reliable with batteries that retain 90% life at 200,000 miles.

The powertrain warranty is good for 8 years and 100,000, 120,000, or 150,000 miles depending on the model.

Model S depreciate so hard though. Can’t imagine buying one tbh. And I’m open to a nice electric sports car.

You do 4 wheel alignment each 40k-50k kilometers. Which means you do it twice as often if you barely drive it.
Brakes should be dismantled and cleaned each 2nd year, because they are going to last longer tran a traditional set of rotors+ calipers
The AC system should be pressure tested each 100k kilometers, but its so comically oversized it doesn't matter.
Control Arms and Ball Joints are undersized, but there is no risk of catastrophic failure.
Cooling fluid has a limited lifespan, but without a nearby headgasket to leak in it might not be a lifetime issue.

I think the problem with the S experience, is that the survivorship bias is going to be strong. Either its going to be of shit quality and get a lot of warranty work...
Or its going to be nice so long you remember to get brakes and control arms serviced

You've heard of a driver's car, the Tesla Motors Model S Plaid is the benchracer's car. The car for the man who cares about numbers over everything else. If you're a benchracer, you measure enjoyment of the car by the numbers your dragy shows you, it's the perfect car. If you like driving, handling, track days, twisties, or things that don't depreciate. It's not the car for you.

      nothing wrong with being poor

tbqh, older Model S isn't same as Plaid.

Plaid is in a league of its own interms of performance. The continuous pull towards 200MPH is insane. The older Model S tops out ~100 or so

I am not denying newer is better in some ways but is it 3x-4x the price better? The difference in top speed is like 50mph and 1 sec 0-60. For most people it wouldn't make sense

it doesn't make sense for anyone, but people who want them buy them so frick it let em do what they want

        1 second improvement is a lot when you're already at a sub-3 second 0-60.

    >0-60 in 1.99s
Why is this a selling point? It's not a track car, doing 0-60 in 1.99s doesn't help you at all. Even getting onto an interstate you have plenty of time to get up to speed
    >1/4 mile i n 9.23s @ 155mph
Useless metric for people who want to lose their license or try to outrun cops
    >60-130mph in 4.66s
    See above
    >204mph Top Speed w/Track Pack
Outside of a track this is worthless, and this isn't a track car. No one in their right mind is taking it to the track. What a useless gimmick

      Height of inflation

What the frick does that have to do with it? We still have inflation. We never got deflation. The dollar is still less and less.

Yes, but Tesla decided that instead of selling less car due to extreme inflation, they should lower the price to ease more customers during the hard times so that they can still continue to pump out cars at their factory instead of shutting it down.

You're describing a company with highly inflated prices dropping those prices in a price war due to increased competition and ascribing that to inflation...

Anon inflation would produce a smaller absolute difference between the original price and the depreciated price, because the value of the money for the latter would be lower
What you see with Teslas is they're overpriced when new + the value tanks quickly because the older they are the closer you are to a very expensive battery replacement being necessary
Also, as a reminder, the most expensive trim of the Cybertruck was supposed to be $60,000 as originally announced, so they jacked up the price by 65%

AND? We didn't experience deflation, the value of the dollar didn't go back up. You've been listening to too many biden speeches, we're still experiencing inflation and it's cumulative. Prices will never go back to "normal" again unless we experience deflation (economy literally falls apart because it's based on endless growth)

why post a twitter screenshot from a post made almost a week ago by a guy that does nothing but spam shit about tesla?
    https://nitter.poast.org/niccruzpatane/status/1795921167804469471#m
there's some weird engagment-farming circles like this now and somehow it makes for decent fodder for idiotic talking points?

why is this the meta for starting threads now? it's the same on some other boards too
you could have just googled a picture of a tesla, to start the thread but instead opted for this, why?

    Model S plaid - 2162kg
    ND Miata - 1100kg
    911 - ~1500kg
    Emira - 1,446kg

Straight line speed and highway pulls isn't everything.

When people take these things to the Nurburgring they start losing power and getting severe brake fade after 1/4 of a lap, so the performance is useless everywhere except a drag strip. The track pack somewhat fixes this but that should have been the base model

One of them is laying on the side of the road. You found a car with shittier build quality than a Tesla. Congrats!
