I know nothing of ownership but I worked at a rental company when these were in their last fleet-only years. Things like the dash? Plastic as hell compared to then-new cars. Everything else? Absolutely plush feeling - with old school 'wide' seats instead of buckets and a forgiving, yet reasonably firm suspension. Throttle tuning was also more linear making these feel faster than the next-gen Impala and many other cars since you didn't need to floor it. It's FWD of course, but having the torque to spin the tires around every corner even in traffic makes things fun.
I dunno, maybe I just liked how they felt more like a "real" car with some of it's older tech. Not sure I'd ever own one however

          I had one:
          >>head gasket failure at 35k mi
          >>oil pan gasket at 50k mi
          problems started at 60k mi
          died at 75k mi
          >>TCS failure at 80k

Still loved it. Very discrete car, I drove like a motherfricking punk speeding and doijg shit, never got pulled over. It’s like driving an invisible car.

          yeah the civic looks awful

This is just proof that a brochure can't tell you how good a car is.

I agree the impala is great despite having the specs of a shitty honda

Can you explain why, of all the cars in the world, this one? It excels at nothing. It's even the worst in its own model line.

not by a long shot. modern day civics are an eye sore.
          >completely bland and generic
that's ultimately why i like them. they're design gets completely muted by everything, especially today. they are the defacto rental/"back ground vehicle" in movies.

They are in Driver San Francisco and its the whole reason i wanted to play that game. I've since re-used that model extracted from the game's files in GTA, and in my 3D modeling projects.

The only reason the car posts good track time are due to insanely sticky tires stock. Same tires on the chevy and it would rape it

I had one of those 300 HP impalas, it sounds good on paper but the gear ratios are designed for loafing around on the highway.

The car sucked until I got a transmission tune for it from some guy on a forum as a beta test, holy shit that car came alive then. I later traded it in tuned and always laughed wondering who bought it, because that thing was wild with an ECM/TCM tune.

Without being tune it really does not feel like 300 HP due to the transmission, gearing and ECM/TCM programming.
