It's likely underestimated. In 2020 the BNEF predicted that we would hit 20% EV market share in 2029. Instead, it's happening 5 years earlier.

Separating ICE from hybrid is dumb. Hybrids get all their power from gasoline. They're ICE cars.

        S/ō/viet

Not PHEVs, they are BEVs with an emergency back up

          Anonymous

I was only talking about non-plugin hybrids. Also, that's a debatable claim. There's a big difference in how electric the most electric PHEVs are compared to the least electric ones. A Chevy Volt or BMW i3 REx may fall into the category of "EV with a backup plan," but there are many older PHEVs that can't produce heat, air conditioning, or sustain high speeds without kicking on the gas engines, and as far as I'm aware, *all* modern PHEVs need to kick on the gas engine to get maximum acceleration.

Thankfully it'll be because of inflation and not because EVs suddenly becomes viable.

What did Google mean by this?

        Anonymous

EVs are already viable enough for consumers. At least as far as the government is concerned. Just having personal transport is already a huge luxury, you shouldn't ever need to travel freely for more than 200 miles. There's always mass transit if you have a legitimate reason.
The only reason you're still allowed to buy and use ICE vehicles is because our leaders somehow still think there would be unrest if they were suddenly outlawed for consumers. But most people think an election was blatantly stolen and they didn't even kill a single local politician, much less federal agents, politicians, financiers, etc., so I don't really understand what they're waiting for.
