Thoughts on the Porsche Cayman? Most likely going to buy a used S model with a 3.4 L 6-cylinder for $45-55k. 2014-2016

There's much better out there for that price range. I'd consider something like a lotus or even an alfa for that price point, especially if you're getting a toy like a cayman

These cars are truly faultless. Doesn't even mater which transmission you get either. Both the Tremec and the 10r80 are the best.

the only reason to not get a C7 in that price range is that you're a colossal homosexual who can't wrench, is a brand gay, or both

get a pre-purchase inspection done. Those engines aren't known for bore-scoring like the older ones, but then again they're only just starting to get 'old' and rumors of scoring are starting to circulate; considering the cost of an engine rebuild better safe than sorry. Also never buy sight unseen. I wouldn't settle for one without the sport chrono package. Don't rule out the Boxster either, might be easier to find one to the spec you like, and you only really lose out on some torsional stiffness you won't notice on the road (and looks, for some people). The negligible difference in power is software-based and can be fixed with a tune.
