This. Love me fk8 simple as.
      >except for the 20" wheels...
I think the new type R's are on 18's? And Honda also are selling some forged 19's ? So I have some options if I ever want to go smaller. I haven't bent a rim yet but I don't drive in the shitty part of town ever (downtown)

      >great manual gearboxes
That's not even true though. They're fragile and the feel isn't that great. There's tons of Honda manuals out there with synchro issues, it's why you see ads that say "no grinds" when they actually have a good trans. They pale in comparison to a direct shifted RWD transmissions like in a S2K or Miata. Hell, even a Mustang with a short throw shifter feels better.
      t. have owned half a dozen Hondas

        >There's tons of Honda manuals out there with synchro issues
Not the old ones. The old econobox ones are awesome, so much so that my boomer non-car parents said they were nice (owned a 98 civic coupe and several toyotas, all in MT). "Borrowed" a 2020 Si, it's really nice as well. Very tight.
FK8 and FL5 have shitty transmissions with factory 2nd grind, yeah.
        >transmission with no shift cables are nicer
        well duh

          >Not the old ones
Yes, the old ones too. There's plenty of B and D series trans with synchro and popout issues out there.

They used to cost $3,000 all day long in pretty decent condition and you could get an Si for $5k and even an import Type R for like $15k.
Good value for the money at all price brackets.
Now that a new one is 20k and a Type R is like 40k it's a meme machine.

Very very easy to work on.

I was a high school student with very few snap-on tools and managed to rebuild one with a K series engine in it , autozone had all the parts under lifetime warranty

    8th gen SI:
    > interior nicer than a new BRZ
    > 200hp in a car that doesn't break - this is NOT a meme. VWs, for example, literally have 5x the number of isues
    > same weight as gr86

With that said, what can you do to an 8th gen to get some fricking room in the bay. Are there half radiators, are those fine?

There isn't one anymore, you get into civics now only if you want a civic because they're not even cheap, which was the draw 20 years ago. Sure they have a good chassis and big aftermarket, but for the money you can get cooler cars.

    Good manual transmissions
    High quantity of manual transmissions

    Light weight
    Great handling
Amazing aftermarket support if you want to make a rocket
Amazing interchangeable OEM support between different models/engines
    Cheap
