Automatics can't read your mind. With a manual you can be in the correct gear prior to making a move.

how does this argument work when you have an auto that has a manual mode so you have complete control over gear choices?

Denied shifts, slow as frick upshifts and downshifts, no clutch control etc.

I think my dd auto has only ever denied a shift when the engine is cold as frick and I tried to shift from 2>1 putting it back around 6k. not the worst if the stupid system is trying to save my engine from my own stupidity

    >Why enjoy anything?
    >Why live?
I enjoy driving manual, it's fun. 20 years after getting my license and sometimes commuting 2 hrs a day I still get excited about driving. But driving someone's $100k autobox bores me. Just let people enjoy things ffs.

      >the correct gear

Automatics get better fuel economy than you, automatics never stall.

So why do you care what gear they choose? You have control issues.

I can see why. I drive a truck with an AMT and the times I wish I was in a manual because mine wont shift when it should or kneecaps my speed by hanging out in 12th up a slight incline is often.

used to be cheaper on new/used car and cheaper to fix/more reliable vs auto
clutch costs $1k and will probably make it to 120k on a non shit driver vs replacing a $4k+ on a auto

There's no practical reason that anybody would NEED to drive a manual car these days, unless you worked for a company with an old company car you had to drive. They're just more fun and engaging to drive if you're the kind of person who enjoys the act of driving which is not most people.

I own a rare, limited production trim of a manual car, there's going to be an automatic regular trim in the near future, and I'm crazy enough to consider switching over. Tell me I'm making a huge mistake. There's nothing special about driving manual in the city.

Always wanted to have a manual, I borrowed a friend's for a week and I think I just suck at it. I have an ability to do it, just not proficient with it and couldn't find the truck with a manual that actually sat on the market long enough for me to go look at it. Gave up on trying to find one and settled for an old auto. E40D doesn't look hard to work on, watched a video of a guy drop the pan, adjust a tensioner and reset the shift guide. Frankly if I had a manual I'd rather get a diesel cause I suck at letting off the clutch and I'm supposing the diesel engine revs to load and won't shit itself immediately if I misstime the flutter thing.

Honestly I own both. And I own a manual because it's just fun to drive with 3 pedals. A automatic C7 is faster but I honestly don't care. The manual makes it fun and the exhaust pops when I shift. Makes me smile and for that it's worth it

If driving manual through experience is like driving an automatic it doesn't really matter. Manual is just more flexible in what it can do.
