Boxers have to be flatter because they alternate which side the piston is on, leaving you much more space per cylinder. If it wasn't flat, you would have cooling issues.

Which is the reason why a VW Subaru swap isn't a good idea.

The 2.5 liter engines are the same block as the 2 liter engines, only with smaller coolant channels. N/A heads went because subaru used paper headgaskets for awhile, and a lot of small mom and pop shops are too moronic not to use multi-layered steel instead of paper. The turbo engines went because it's an aluminum open deck block with little reinforcement, leading to the cylinder walls moving under stress. Piston ringlands are also known to go, which leads to the oil consumption. It can all be mitigated or fixed entirely with proper maintenance and mods, but 99% of subaru owners are even more moronic than upbadging ricers.

No. I'm going to come to your house, rape you, and shit on your car, if you have one. And if I can't find you, I'll just find someone else who's made similar comments do do it to them. Go ahead, have me arrested. You can't unrape yourself.

Why are flat plane engines reliable but a Subaru can't even make it to the pride rally without blowing up?

          >The oil pickup not shown
How convenient(it's mesh covered and more than big enough to supply plenty of oil with whatever excess RTV comes off between the first couple of oil changes)

All the blow ups that are documented even half assedly show people going well into 500 hp before engine failures

          Plenty fine for a 6speed manual 4cylinder sedan that's 32k new.
