Why would the military make this and and not a humvee. Fits 3 people maximum and gets rocked by IEDs.

    Wasn't the Warthog an EV?
If memory serves even in universe the marines complained that aside for sick nasty drifts, jumps and hooning, it was kind of shit as a military vehicle

the irony of OP not knowing that humvees were initially designed as 'behind-frontlines' transports and got absolutely rekt by ieds until they were uparmored. at which point the engines struggled with the extra weight.
anyway, the hog was powered by a 12 liter hydrogen engine, fuel tank could take anything from drinking water to raw sewage, as long as it had water it'd run. range was about 490 miles, not bad considering it weighs 6500 lb

also OP forgot about the transport variants which could carry more people in the back.
and in universe, the warthog had a favourable reputation (roadkill was apparently quite common) although people did say it could've used more armour. top speed was apparently 78 mph

They still get rocked by IEDs which is why they're being replaced by MRAPs that cost 4x as much and suck at the original role the Humvee was designed for. The issue with it is troops using it as a scout car rather than the actual scout vehicles because "less of a hassle". Humvee was basically a successor to the Willys Jeep. Imagine if in WW2 you had tardos landing on Omaha Beach in Jeeps. That's what troops were doing with the Humvee in Iraq and Afghanistan.

      Space marine here.
      Can confirm.
It's more of a multi-person ATV than a truck. Easy to get sideways.

      Naw dude.
Only takes 1 person to flip it back over after a crash.

yes then forza forced 343 to fricked that up because of its unique suspension.

As bad as it is, Covenant Plasma small arms would turn APC's into ovens anyways, if not outright melt them.

Might as well go with the Jeep on steroids.

Its not like any of the land vehicles changed the situation in space battles.

Why did they include engine sounds on the EV?

govt regulations around EVs being too quiet
it's powered by a 12 liter hydrogen internal combustion engine though. no mention as to cylinder count though. i like to think it's a v12 given its displacement and how quiet it is. imo halo reach's engine sound was the best, sounded like halo 3's but they added a pickup rumble/tone to it

I remember reading about how the exhaust note from the Warthog was based on a recording of one of the dev's Pontiac Fiero.

Thats the motor spinning. No seriously, thats the electric motor. Ride around on a forklift or pallet jack once.

you're wrong, all warthogs are canonically powered by a 12 liter hydrogen internal combustion engine.

and if you crank up the volume you can hear it sounding like a regular engine, especially when it idles. electric motors don't make sounds at idle lol

      >maybe humvee not good enough off road ?
It's good enough. Just can't do it super fast, although I've had NCOs jump these trucks. Pic related was me in the back trying to hold down 12 cases of hot food after 1SG wants that food sent out right meow.

I have no idea why richgays buy this experience on a plane. HMMWV does it just fine.
