600s aren't deemed "le old", it's literally just an engine class. The only issue is that apparently in some jurisdictions the emission targets are hard to meet with 600s, at least that's Yamaha's excuse IIRC. 600 is the perfect engine: they sound amazing, last a long time, keep the bike light enough to be nimble, but are neither a COPE like smaller engines nor a "I ALWAYS BUY A BIG GULP AND THROW AWAY HALF!" tryhard wanna-be LARP like a liter bike. Fact: most people that ride liter bikes run them in power modes that effectively make them a 600 anyway.

They don't update because there's no financial incentive to do so. 600s haven't had a meaningful change since about 2005. Liter bikes are mostly just adding tech and bench racing against each other for bragging rights and selling to stupid people with too much disposable income to say they have the "best bike". 600s are already the perfect balance and "improving" them would just make them needlessly more expensive or move them up to a higher class and screw up the balance that they have. They already are planning on upping the displacement for emissions, that's why they won't even issue styling updates, it's likely going to be replaced with 900cc triples, which is actually also a really good balanced engine with an even better bottom end and still sounds pretty good, but 600s will always be the best.

Cool bike. Nice styling. If it's good or not will be defined on the corners much like their ancestral predecessors from the 90s. I hope it is, but I doubt it will be better than modern bikes with more ccs.
Also, it's another display that the Jap bike industry is heading the right way unlike what ever the frick is going on with cars.

A grand marquis is a panther platform vehicle, goofball. >they don't recognize my drunk driving meme
If you injure or kill someone while drunk driving you should be immediately executed. No trial, no appeals.
Pretty much. I bet a Ninja 400 will be a better bike, a 400cc 4 cylinder is going to be an absolute dog on the bottom end, so you're either going to have to scream around town with the engine trying to vibrate itself apart getting like 10 mpg with a 10k miles lifespan, or you're always going to be bogged down. Get the Ninja 400 to start, then get a 600. There's no reason to kneecap yourself to a 400 4cylinder other than maybe insurance if you're like 19. Reddit always want the cars that make fast car noises without being actually fast, that's why they have such a hard on for Hondas that rev to 8k+ RPM but only make like 120hp.
How little do you know about 4 cylinder high revving motorcycles?
A 4 cylinder 400cc bike is going to have tiny overbore cylinders, which means it's going to rev high and make good power up top, yes, but will be like a fricking moped at low revvs. This is going to drastically shorten the life if you just scream it around town, and it's going to suck to constantly row the gear box to avoid screaming around town everywhere. The 400 p-twin, on the other hand, will make less peak power, but it has two big meaty 200cc cylinders that product ample bottom end power to get you down the road. A 600cc 4 cylinder makes enough at the bottom end to still do what it needs but then goes full rocket ship when revv'd out. This is just basic physics and core engine knowledge, try reading a book sometime.

Revving out while accelerating is fine, but just screaming revvs at cruise to "be in the powerband" is not. This is why you morons keep blowing up your sports car engines, no engine likes to be flogged at 80% of redline all the time.

This is also probably why you all complain about oil consumption in your cars, don't sustain high revvs for extended periods of time.

I've done hours of highway riding with the I4 engine screaming and vibrating at 8k and there hasn't been a single problem with valve clearances or anything because of it. Just change the oil in time and it's fine.

8k on a 600 is normal, that's only halfway to redline. A 400 is going to be doing like 15k just to be usable around town.
My Ninja 250 did 11k rpm at 70mph.
At 19k miles the timing chain was worn out.
This. And that's an understressed engine meant for beginners to not blow up when they do something stupid, a 400 will be higher strung and made with less overbuilt parts. But hey, let's all do engine rebuilds every 20k, that sounds like a great plan.

okay, this is a bad joke. My 8k rpm 500 from the 80's(aircooled) does 3-5k around town.
If you mean doing 60+mph around town... that's a highway speed. Freeway I do about 5k rpm and it's comfy.
A watercooled i-4 making 70hp with 14k rpm should be doing 7k on the freeway comfy enough.

Literally. And with an up/down quick shifter the gears will be fun as frick to row through
I think something most people look over is that engine size is very much correlated to where you live, if you live in the southern boonies then you simply cannot have fun with a 600+ on those dogshit backroads, similar to why 125-250 dirt bikes are superior in areas with extremely tight trails. But if you live in some shitty flyover state a 400/600 would be abysmal at times
This is true. I want the zx4r because it's the perfect hp for my local twisties and skill level.
Also, I already have an older sportbike with 150hp. A fat pig but she's great on 80+mph sweepers where the zx4r should be optimal on the slower stuff.
wait what is the 4r?
why would you get this over the zx6r?

Saying a cbr250 is the fastest 250 is completely deranged.
>cbr250
They were talking about the CBR250RR << CBR250r and the CBR250rr
Oone is single piston and the other is 4 piston engine.
>These are toy bikes.
That's the point.

They're not though that's just learner cope.
Shit forks, shit shocks, shit brackets, and no power.
Gunning through a real fast sweeper is shit n these, as is tight work.
>Much weight
The difference is negligible, and all the negatives outweigh any tiny benefit, particularly if your an average 300 pound American.
>Who cares about losing to every Karen in her minivan???
>ITS A SPORTS BIKE I SWEAR ITS A RRRRRR NINJA RR
Kek one day you may even be able to afford a real bike.
>Losing to a Tesla
Actually an argument, but you will lose to a minivan first.
what minivan goes 0 60 in less than 4 seconds? go take your meds troony
You mean 7 seconds, when ridden by a professional,on a perfect track. That same pro will eventually finish the quarter mile in fifteen and a half seconds.
Hey grandpa google is free
Ok fine, 7.7 seconds I was being generous. Add a 300lb neckbeard learner rider and it will be lucky to get 10 seconds

Still buying a zx4r
Are you getting the optional training wheels and water wings too?
Don't forget to get a fart cannon so you can pretend it's a big boy bike

its so obvious you're mad your gay little useless supersport is being phased out
I might get one, it seems fun, but at the same time I don't want to get rid of my R3, I'm sentimental and it's my first
lol you really think they're gonna bring the zx4r? has their other recent releases gave you any indication that they have the balls to innovate past changing plastic and vinyls?
Google is free
there's not a single official source confirming it's the zx4r being released. literally every article says
>could be
>should be here soon
only thing there is is the CARB filings.
carb filings is literally proof so... 10 days
oh they put the delivery dates of new bikes in the CARB filings? how strange.
Sorry everything has to be laid out in plain english for you, life must be hard with no critical thinking skills
look at that! another post with no confirmed release date. there's not a single source ANYWHERE on the internet confirming the zx4r will be a 4 cylinder. the carb filing that we can see only shows it's a 399cc engine. it's only proof that there's a 400 of some kind being released. sorry I shit on your narrative.

um... are you a fricking moron? Look at the VIN number identification chart it literally says 4 cylinders. have a nice day
>introducing the ZX4R
>We heard you, and we listened
>the New ZX4R is our modern take on a single cylinder 400cc engine, producing 44hp, it is our torque monster of a bike!
>with the design inspired by the ninja 400, you will see it looks exactly the same from the forks and wheels to the handle bars it gets it’s ZX4R name from its color scheme, and the graphics which are a homage to our Kawasaki racing heritage!
>we will also be discontinuing our parallel twin and in-line 4 cylinder models for the 2024 model year in favor of our new single cylinder based engine.
>the zx4 will have a starting MSRP of only $8,999! And will run limited in anticipation of our new carbon footprint-free e-line of motorcycles!
Please god no
It's going to be a 4 banger. Even the chinks are going to release a low cc 4 banger soon.
> with the design inspired by the ninja 400, you will see it looks exactly the same from the forks and wheels to the handle bars it gets it’s ZX4R name from its color scheme, and the graphics which are a homage to our Kawasaki racing heritage!
This sounds exactly like what a big corporation would say, and do. It’s over.
christ reading that gave me depression, and I know that is exactly what is going to happen. Companies don’t give a flick flying frick about their customer base. Wouldn’t be surprised if a woman was revealing this only to mention
>this is the first time an all black all female team has designed a motorcycle within our company
never even hyped about the zx4r, just fricking sad man because it’s where the whole industry is inevitably going.
>christ reading that gave me depression
lol cuck, getting depression from letters on a screen lmao moron
Just buy a 600 ffs pussies
The ones I want aren't sold new here
>r6 discontinued so no way to buy new to incentivize Yamaha to continue making it
>CBR600R Has an exclusive japanese version that still wont come stateside so i'd have to import a used one
All we're left with is Gsxr and zx6r
Well, we still have cbr600rr too it's just the new super good one is Japan only because the WEF/bilderbergs has less control of their economy
>it's just the new super good one is Japan only
woops thats what I meant, I want that one or an r6
Sorry I meant I want one that's a liter bike of 900cc or more
I'll stick with my cb500x, it's easy to ride, looks good, relatively lightweight, and I will be taking it camping next season.

nice cropped photo homosexual. that graph doesn't have an column headers. post a link. at this time, you've only posted a cropped photo with no column headers and whatifcouldbeexpertssay-ism from an internet tabloid. they conveniently don't give a link in that article. when you go to the nhtsa vin decoder site and use either of those 2 zx400 partial VINs, nothing comes up except to say it's a kawasaki. this is the same shit they pulled back before the c7 came out trying to claim it's gonna be an awd twin turbo mid engine. have you ever seen a news cycle before? they always drum up a bunch of hype to keep eyes on the manufacturer and when the manufacturer fails to deliver, they have eyes on the other products they did manage to release. you have ZERO proof.

reddit: the bike
>anything I dont like is reddit
Pretty much. I bet a Ninja 400 will be a better bike, a 400cc 4 cylinder is going to be an absolute dog on the bottom end, so you're either going to have to scream around town with the engine trying to vibrate itself apart getting like 10 mpg with a 10k miles lifespan, or you're always going to be bogged down. Get the Ninja 400 to start, then get a 600. There's no reason to kneecap yourself to a 400 4cylinder other than maybe insurance if you're like 19. Reddit always want the cars that make fast car noises without being actually fast, that's why they have such a hard on for Hondas that rev to 8k+ RPM but only make like 120hp.
source: your ass
This is just basic physics and core engine knowledge, try reading a book sometime.
overbore=oversquare, had a brain fart
I doubt revving it will hurt lifespan in any noticable way. Seems like a fun daily to me, especially in traffic
I think you're really underestimating how much gearing can help here.
This. And that's an understressed engine meant for beginners to not blow up when they do something stupid, a 400 will be higher strung and made with less overbuilt parts. But hey, let's all do engine rebuilds every 20k, that sounds like a great plan.
>15k
Wtf you on about? A 125 is usable in a town without revving hard
>400 is going to be doing like 15k just to be usable around town.
okay, this is a bad joke.
>15k
source: your ass
You're delusional homosexual. The fireblade 250s sit on 9krpm at 100kph and still last forever.
Bikes die by crashing and neglect. It's rare to see someone actually wear out a motorcycle engine, especially a modern watercooled one from a reputable manufacturer.
If someone wants to commute 2 hours a day on the freeway with his zx4r let him.
Better than a squid crashing a 600 on his first ride
My Ninja 250 did 11k rpm at 70mph.
At 19k miles the timing chain was worn out.
>budget shitbike ptwin at redline
wowza!
Redline was 14.5k, homosexual
Shitty ptwin budget bike cope
That's a pretty easy job.
>ninja 250
AHAHAAH
How short was the gearing on that thing?
My cbr250r did 8-9k at 90mph.
14-45 for the final drive. 90mph was 12.5k
It's a 400. It will not be stressed at highway speeds. What does it make? Like 60hp? It'll only need 30% of that to maintain 70mph.
>it's going to rev high and make good power up top
awesome innit m8
>This is going to drastically shorten the life if you just scream it around town
it's not the 60's anymore
>it's going to suck to constantly row the gear box
git gud, shifting is fun and easy
What i've seen is that most moron sportbike vloggers keep low gear and high revs anyways when their literbikes could easily pull in 6th. Once the engine has warmed up it's really not a problem with modern engines and oils.
Literally. And with an up/down quick shifter the gears will be fun as frick to row through
>this entire thread
Genuinely some of the most moronic shit I've read in ages.
True! anyway I cant wait for the zx4r
>BIZ IDEA
Supercharged literbike instead of 400cc training wheels moped that won't even get confirmed LMAO
The backroads are bad everywhere. If I were to try to even 80% it out in rural California I'd die.
finally a bike that isnt gay and 20 years old
6 more days!
frick. bikegays were right
The only real tragedy is that this is gonna have that ugly fricking kawasaki TFT screen. Still gonna buy if its good
is this cope or is it real this time
Cope until proven otherwise.
