wrangler, GX/land cruiser, jimny are the trifecta but if it's light offroading only (trails not mud or boulders) then have some fun building up something unexpected
We clown on Jeeps mostly because the owners are homosexuals. It would be perfect for you.
homosexualry aside, is there anything actually wrong or bad about the cars themselves though?
Wrangers? No. Liberties and Highlanders? My main beef is they are a b***h to disassemble, but that's pretty much any GMC that isn't a X500 series, and sometimes even then. If you want one to modify, get a wranger.
I've only had bullshit beaters my whole life but once I graduate next year my first big purchase is gonna be a car that I can frick up myself since all these years i've had cars that others have already fricked with
Then a wrangler, if you want a jeep that badly, is probably gonna be your fit. If another model calls to you, it's your money, but be warned most GMC cars are designed to not be taken apart by shade-tree mechanics and it only gets worse the newer you get. Of course, the newer you get, the more ALL cars and trucks are taking that route. If you do get one, my advice to you is to not take anything in the higher package if you plan to mod. There's no point in getting bells and whistles you either plan to install yourself, or that you could install for way cheaper. A prime example of that is heated seats. If your model has that as an option, the hookups for it will be there no matter if you get them or not, so you can get them cheaper elsewhere usually and install it yourself. Good luck, anon.
shit reliability and the DW’s
DW?
I saw a video that showed a wrangler has the same storage space as a 4runner. current generations
not op btw
I bought a 3rd gen 4runner with 168k for $3200 in 2020. A JKs entry price used is about 15k. 4Runners are also better vehicles if not rusted
they're made by Chrysler
No worse than Chevy or ford. Actually I'd buy a yugo before spending money on a pos Ford.
Y'all clown new Wranglers because there's so many poorgays here who can't afford one.
>am poor
>have jeep
Nahhhh
A new Rubi is $50k to $60k. Even t the most basic b***h new 2 door Wrangler you will find on the lot is going to be $40k
OK. Anyone can finance.
Got mine under msrp before the market went full moron. Dealership calls me often to buy it back. Feels good man
Well played.
YJ owner here and i can confirm we're all huge gays
Maybe for you.
>but I know you guys clown on jeeps
Please keep in mind that 90% of the posters on this board are poor and bus riders.
There is only one.
If you need space you'll want to consider a 4runner or landcruiser. If you're on a budget an XJ cherokee would work. If you don't mind the footprint, a TJ Wrangler is a good move. My personal favorite is a CJ-7
This is literally your worst choice.
Get a Subaru outback. the jeep will get stuck
I already live in denver, the last thing we need is another outback driving around
The Mazda MX-5 Miata
HELL YEA BROTHERS
>jeep owners park like c**ts even in their own driveway
HELL YEA BROTHER
Jimny
You're in the US, right?
And you don't know how to fix old cars, right?
And you don't want to drop $100k on a Rover or G-Wagon, right?
It's basically just the Wrangler then. I highly recommend the 3.6L JK (2012-17). 2-door soft top for maximum effect.
The early JKs had a 3.8L that sucked ass (sorry to anyone out there with it, but it's true, esp with the 4-spd slushbox).
is the 3.6 diesel engine the new ones have a meme or something worth considering
>Diesel 3.6L
IDK, the only JL (new ones) I've driven is a gas 3.6L 6-spd (I prefer the JK with the 3.6L & 6-speed though).
why would you consider anything else?
I've been driving a new Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with leather interior all summer. It's pretty kino and pretty fun. I don't get the hate for these rigs. The only Wranglers I hate are ones with all the tacky aftermarket crap on them. I think those look low class.
>I don't get the hate for these rigs.
they're tall sedans with a funny "vintage" shape, they're not "rigs", you sound like a child talking about pokemon
Pokémon came out in 96. Ya silly goose
>muh rigs
>shit reliability
>shit owners (used ones are shit)
>only good thing are tires and body on frame
Get an old light truck and give better tires
I love jeep because it makes kids Seethe
Buy a HMMWV. They're being auctioned off by the hundreds every week at Marine bases in California and Georgia. I got mine with 9 miles for 14k.
no you didnt, not a single HMMWV would ever be auctioned off with that low of mileage, if one even existed
That kid is Def lying. Hummers are dogshit offroad anyways
just get a explorer. its literally its name
Also since I'm moronic, what's it called when you make the wheels on the same axle farther apart from each other? Not distance between the two axles, but where the tires stick out farther from the car?
It's just gay enough for me to be interested in it and I imagine it would be better for snow and off roading, right?
ooh. This also scratches the itch I have. Thanks anon
that is the wheel offset
It's s worse for ofroading, it makes it more difficult to maneuver on narrow trails and switchbacks. People do it because they like how it looks, but I personally think it looks moronic.
Neat
SAS swap and 5.0 would be breasts.
My obligatory old jeep good nujeep bad post.
YJ MOGS TGAY AND CGAY
Yes
>Objectively worse looking than a CJ
>Objectively less capable off road than a TJ
B-B-But it was in Jurassic Park!!!
B-B-But muh circle lights No AmC yOu CaN't Get SuEd fOr RolLiNg OvEr AnD kIlLiNg PeOpLe. Take your Carbed 4.2 shove it up your ass bud. Every Jeeper knows that 91-95 is the best year for the 4.0, Based XJ and YJ.
>Spongebob meme
I've owned a CJ/XJ/YJ/and a TJ in the last 4 years. YJ's are by a mile the worst vehicle on that list.
>Based XJ and YJ.
TJ's have a non-carbed 4.0 and the benefit of OBD2 and no leaf springs you dunce.
91-95 are the best years for the 4.0 motor, I own a TJ,XJ,YJ have you converted your CJ to coils and OBD2? If it's that superior?
is this Israel?
No
Somewhere in the mediterranean
Seeing this while being boxed in a shitty office with minimal sunlight makes me wanna take the offroad pill and jump straight into the jeep way, just not sure yet if rubicon or sahara way though.
Keep at it mediterraneanbro, you better put on some miles on that beast.
>t. accountant
Lmao I'm an accountant too m8
2 months in and I've already done 5k kms in this thing, I just love driving it
I wanted a Rubicon too.. until I test drove it and the Sahara back to back. The red dash, red stitching, plastic fenders, mud terrains, FIAT electronics for lockers and sway bar disconnect.. too many things I didn't like about it. I'd rather add air lockers and quick disconnects when I decide I want them.
HELL YEA BROTHER
>it will never be real
Gross
wish I was rich bros, jeeps are so cool...
>be poor
>have jeep
Yeah
wish I was rich and had a jeep that's made post 2012 bro...
I'm poor and mine is a 2021
post jeep
anons say that it is
>post jeep
Yeee
>anons say that it is
99% of the people that own them just drive them like any old suv. If you want a 4 door suv that's better than a JK off road, get an XJ and spend $3,000 on mods.
>Thinking that a JK is the best choice
Imagine if this wasn't just bait.
>Mercedes G Wagen
>Land Rover Defender 90
A bunch of used canadian military ones should be coming on the market soon. They replaced them with the crapve. Inless their pulling some gay bullshit and selling them to a 3d world military or just scrapping them.
C6 machine gun unfortunately not included.
A classic bronco would be enough for light off roading
for me, it's the 2002 honda CRV
older suv-like vehicles before they were homosexualized by American suburban moms, stuff like Bronco, Blazer, Samurai/Jimny, Land Cruiser.
Even the Rav4, X-Trail, and X-Terra aren't terrible vehicles. They're pretty capable if you upgrade the steering/suspension. Some of them even came with pretty slick upgrades out of the box.
I personally would advise against Jeeps or frankly anything in the Fiat-Chrysler family. The reliability of those machines (universally score low on all reliability metrics) is enough to turn me away. Jeep's blatant disrespect for their consumers (advertising a road princess suv as a heavy-duty off-road vehicle is criminal imo) is also a major deterrent.
Related, but a big project, is if you're never taking it on-highway you can usually get salvaged truck frames. Leave it long or saw it off and build a bush buggy on top of it with whatever salvage cab and engine you find. Can be pretty cool if you put the effort in, but it won't build a reliable machine and it won't be road safe in most first world places.
nah this would still be a daily driver for me, but my job doesn't allow for tardiness or absence due to snow so I'm wanting something that'll chew through the snow short of getting a snow mobile
I'm not gonna be rock crawling by any means but the last few times I've gone camping my current car literally scraped by
What specifically fails the most on jeeps? I know there's a couple of years that had a ton of recalls but I thought the JLs were alright so far
>What specifically fails the most on jeeps?
buyers. they are not bought by barbie-wannabie stacyes in europe but only by people who want that type of 4x4 so you never hear anyone have issues with them here. their reputation has even increased since italians took over because you cant really go lower than chrysler, everything becomes an improvment after that.
Lmao
I will never understand why people call Wranglers pavement princesses. It's a four wheel drive body on frame with two solid axles for frick's sake, like what's wrong with people?
Like just cause Kardashians own G Wagons doesn't make the vehicle less of an offroad beast.
Frontier pro4x
Why would you ask chantards for offroading advice? Idiot detected.
you need to be 18 or older to post here
Fj Cruiser
What do you Jeep chads think of the Wrangler 4xe?
What about them reminds you of legos? Too boxxy?
just the fact that you can connect a zillion different parts for them together
Buy a Grand Cherokee WJ Limited edition. They are cheap as frick, reliable, and one of the best offroaders out there
Forgot picrel
If you're going to work on it yourself, get a YJ. They're cheaper because they've got the wrong shape of headlights, but aside from that they're a good cheap platform to add whatever you want to them. If you're not going to swap the engine then get a 4.0 HO (91-95), and if you are then get whatever.
