Wife had a 2018 model. Fricking thing saved her life when she was T-Boned by a drunk driver doing 35mph over the speedlimit over a blind hill. Car is basically a roll cage on wheels, filled with airbags.
She did need a medflight due to internal bleeding (car fliped 3x), but yeah, she lived. Driver in other car was fine due to drunk people seemingly always being physically fine after accidents, and the passenger later died. They were in a 98 Subaru of some sort and that thing fricking folded like an accordion. They had to cut his passenger out with the jaws of life.
>If you go for one with the CVT, you better fricking change that fluid every 40-50k miles or you'll regret it.
Basically. Really only needed at first as everything is wearing in. Changing out the paper "auxilliary" filter is important too. The main screen filter in the pan shouldn't ever clog, so you can leave it. All in all it is a very easy CVT to service.
>Jatcos
Ew, Jatco
It is the same JATCO CVT Nissan uses, but Mitsubishi pays more for higher quality production runs (someone on the mirage forums obsessively tracked lot numbers of transmissions to figure this out). They don't experience anywhere near the same level of failures as Nissan. Their fluid spec is also better than Nissan.
OP if you just need a commuter/grocery-getter, than you really can't go wrong. Super simple to do any maintenance on. It does lack power, but honestly, I drove my wife's on I81 in Appalachia and on mountain back roads, and never had a problem. Just be willing to floor it, and take the 1-2mpg hit on hills.
The Mirage community is pretty great too. They all know they own econo-shitboxes, and just have fricking fun with them. There are a ton of easy mods to increase fuel economy, or improve handling. Just a fun car. I think there is a dude on there who has over 300k miles on his.
Lastly, has a pretty cool camshaft with the rollers built into the lobe tips.
>Mitsubishi pays more for higher quality production runs (someone on the mirage forums obsessively tracked lot numbers of transmissions to figure this out). They don't experience anywhere near the same level of failures as Nissan. Their fluid spec is also better than Nissan.

A shitty market doesn't mean you go out and pay moronic amounts of money for a shitty vehicle. These weren't worth the $8k they were originally going for and sure the frick aren't worth $20k. Stop fricking up the car market, moron.

Why is the Mirage a bad car for its class?
Why is cancer a bad disease to have?
You literally can't give me a reason why it's a bad economy car. You Douggays never can.
Hundreds of people in this thread have already explained why it's a terrible car. Go deal with your crippling buyers remorse somewhere else ffs. It's a fricking 3 cylinder vehicle in America...
They haven't. The only critiques that have been listed are that it's slow and "It's just bad because it's bad." Name some reliability problems these cars have. You literally can't.
When has any Mitsubishi ever been reliable? Why would their bottom of the barrel shitbox be any better?

>When has any Mitsubishi ever been reliable?
Almost everything they built prior to the Nissan/Renault alliance. Also that link proves the Mirage isn't a bad car.
This is a bad car.

So a Mirage is barely more reliable than one of the least reliable shitboxes for sale in the US? Boy you're great at selling these lmao.
The OG Beetles are simple and easy to work on. They're still shit. Lada's are simple and easy to work on. They're still shit.
You know there's defending a shitty car like a BRZ or a WRX then there's defending a Mirage. Just stop. It's really pathetic.
>So a Mirage is barely more reliable than one of the least reliable shitboxes for sale in the US?
Are you actually comparing premature brake wear to engine failure?
You still never answered
why it's bad.
What part of it has 3 fricking cylinders is so hard for you to understand? What part of there are better vehicles in it's price range is so hard to understand?
Why do you need more than 3 cylinders in a 2000lb subcompact? You do realize nobody buying this type of car gives a frick about how well it can race, right?
>barely more reliable
I think perhaps you are on drugs.
>Why do you need more than 3 cylinders in a 2000lb subcompact?
Because we live in America.
>why would their bottom of the barrel shitbox be any better?
Because bottom of the barrel shitboxes are well known for being simple and easy to work on. Have you never owned a car?
bad bait
>hundreds of people
>a fricking 3 cylinder vehicle
I drive a Smart, 3 cylinders, 3 nuts per wheel, just like God intended
The Mirage is built in Thailand and the Philippines.
