>spends money manual swapping something designed to be fun with an AT like a Buick GN because autists on the internet told him he's a cuck >it drives worse now and is now slower because he'll never actually be to shift as fast as the AT was designed to do >tfw cucked when trying to avoid being cucked
>using an 80's GM auto as an example of "shifting faster than humans"
Lol. You realize manuals were faster up until the 2010s and still are faster in low displacement NA cars, right?
No you're right. The autists are seething because they don't realize manual GNs are slower because they don't hold boost between shifts unlike the auto. Sorry gays, the engineers from 35 years ago are smarter than you.
if you're driving NA or SC then yeah a manual will be more fun.
if you're driving a turbo a AT or DCT will be more fun.
really depends on how your car is configured.
With a MT and NA or SC you can pick and chose your gears to either stay in the ideal power band or short shift for economy. Superchargers are a lot more RPM dependent than turbos are IMO so that's why I lump them with NA.
MT and turbo you lose the ability to launch on boost without a 2step/launch control system and you must lift to shift, which no matter how fast you are you will lose some pressure which you will have to rebuild.
AT and turbo you gain the ability to launch on boost, less chances to break shit because your entire drive train is loaded to the brakes rather than at the flywheel and you retain pressure through gears, which will easily edge out cars with much more power. Granted you don't get hella sick woosh sounds between gears but that doesn't matter if you're going fast.
I'm saying this having driven both and I prefer AT with a turbo than MT with a turbo.
Yet you're some homosexual who has to give your car a handjob to get it to move anywhere, kek. Then you jerk off all the other stick grabbers at the car meets
>can't clutch kick >never will have the feeling of the perfect smooth shift. >TCM nanny cuts power way before the end of the torque curve and you can't hold the gear out. >egregiously badly programmed autos will constantly be hunting gears while under mild acceleration, being annoying as frick.
This is only a compromise. They're also heavier, and more of a b***h to deal with when they break. Sequential Manual is peak performance.
It's since outside of top end exotic cars manuals are the ultra poorgay cheap spec transmission of a given car. Rather than just accept their lot for having the most unimpressive trim of their own car they cope with autism like >"UH KIN FEEL MUH CAR" >"AHM THE REAL DRIVER"
And >MUH FUEL ECONOMY
When they pretend that automatics have had more than 3 years since the 1990s and get the same fuel economy, sometimes slightly better numbers in automatic form vs. manual
I drove an 18 speed for work for a few years. So nice to just gas and brake when I got off. I can see manual being fun for a weekend drive or something but frick off for a daily.
It helps to know something like 99% of stunt cars are automatics because of the bullshit you can pull off with them. The bigger problem is on day to day manuals are more engaging, and if you aren't trying to do 360 spins and shit then for most other precision driving manuals just make more sense.
Theres also the fact most automatics are built like shit, so unless its one known for its robust nature like you see on ex-cop cars and the like you can end up in a world of trouble pretty fast abusing them.
how can you do "more" in a car with less control, where you can't disengage the power from the wheels any time you want? How do you kick it into a drift? You have so much more control in so many subtle ways in a manual.
This + rwd. Especially if the car has a kickdown switch. Although trying to get any ancient automatic up to speed on the highway can be hilariously fun
all the arguments for driving manual are stupid because automatics are really good these days. so i don’t bother to argue that driving manual is better. i do it because i like it. it’s not a rational decision.
the average DA poster is very poor, not quite DA poor but generally destitute
since most cannot afford to buy, fuel, or maintain a modern car, or even a fast car, they have to affirm themselves as superior for owning an old slow car but with a manual transmission
then they can double dip on cred for being able to drive the ancient lost art of driving stick, even though a couple dumb bimbo prostitutes in my high school class could figure it out and the only reason the average person can't is that they've never bothered to learn, not because it's hard. (yeah the skill ceiling is higher i wont argue that)
Be they drive cars with 4cyl engines
I've tried it several times and never not hated it
you literally can't.
it's just "press the gas pedal" and that's it
you're a cuckold if you don't own a manual transmission vehicle
>has to put down his beer to shift gears
>calls other cuckolds
>Can't drive with one hand
I bet you have never downed a beer while driving once in your life.
if you can juggle a burrito, a drink, and a smoke while rowing gears you're not a driver.
burrito is held between the knees. take bites by bending over like you're about to suck yourself off.
beer - bottle is better, left hand, this way you can hold your ciggie in that hand as well
right hand has access to the knob, your passengers breasts, and the gun under the seat
amen

so basically you don't like that I'm right and have to shift the conversation to other examples
>TH200
>fast
do zoomers really
No you're right. The autists are seething because they don't realize manual GNs are slower because they don't hold boost between shifts unlike the auto. Sorry gays, the engineers from 35 years ago are smarter than you.
a neighbor has one of these, jaw just about dropped when I saw it driving down my street
>top speed of 124 MPH
if you're driving NA or SC then yeah a manual will be more fun.
if you're driving a turbo a AT or DCT will be more fun.

How so?
I mean NA engine (proper engine, not some 4-banging volumetric equivalent of a soda bottle) depends on revs much less than a turbo.
With a MT and NA or SC you can pick and chose your gears to either stay in the ideal power band or short shift for economy. Superchargers are a lot more RPM dependent than turbos are IMO so that's why I lump them with NA.

sounds like you had a skill issue OP
DCT is superior
>can't clutch kick

I do though, like every single time. Plus I don't even have to do anything to get it lmao.
Me getting a perfect shift is akin to me bringing my GF to orgasm, as I did most of the effort.
You getting a perfect shift in your automatic is more akin to Chad bringing your GF to orgasm since you did nothing to help.
>virgin hands typed the post that received this (You)
You guys are fricking weird.
In the UK everyone drives a manual and nobody cares, Americans make such a big deal out of it
You're tax limited to shitboxes and your cities are banning cars, and you're adopting autos faster than even some of your fellow europoors

Frankly your opinion doesn't count.

Driving a manual transmission is just another way to tell people you're poor.
If you could drive a manual, maybe you'd know better.
Right? I have tons of fun taking my AT-ST out on a nice cool, breezy day.
brake boosting an automatic v8 that you don't really care about (ie, the crown vic) is peak moron fun

The only way they're fun is with a manual valve body.
This + rwd. Especially if the car has a kickdown switch. Although trying to get any ancient automatic up to speed on the highway can be hilariously fun
This is all true.
rwd
kickdown switch
2800 lbs
>Datsun 280zx with a 3-speed JATCO auto
Define fun, every auto I've driven felt like shit having the gears randomly shifting when I normally wouldn't when in a manual.
Any decent DCT and you won't even feel the gears changing
>he makes an apt comparison that hits too hard in the feelies, and I don't have a good come back.
>I'll call him a virgin, and give him two (yous)
>likes jerking off a phallic object
oh yeah anon I'm sure you're having lots of sex, just hopefully for you no one asks who it's with
>Muh 0-60 times
>heckin lighting fast shifts at the touch of a paddle!! just like gran turismo 7!!
all the arguments for driving manual are stupid because automatics are really good these days. so i don’t bother to argue that driving manual is better. i do it because i like it. it’s not a rational decision.
About the only good thing about an autotragic is brake standing them at lights. Everything else is a disappointment compared to a stick.
i mean you can if you really try but a manual will still be more fun even in casual driving
