Why is DA like this?
90% of the board is basically
>every feature my car doesn’t have is shit!
>every car newer than mine is ugly!
>every country of origin that isn’t my car’s sucks!
It is genuinely tiresome. I actually enjoy busrider posts more because they aren’t this negative and bitter

I haven't owned a car in 6 years. I make $200k a year salary.
I wish I had cooled seats and adaptive cruise control but the prestige package was 10k more and most of those cars didn't have the tow package
There's a difference between being a contrarian luddite and sour-grapesing. People's opinion on a car can depend solely on the "look" and "feel" of a car, totally seperate from the objective statistics that benchracers or utilitarians drool over.
I drive a malaise shitbox with no radio, AC, or power locks. Not to mention any safety features advented in the 80's. If you care about performance, comfort, style, reliability, convenience, or safety, there are far superior options. But all that matters is the big smile it puts on my face as I cruise to work and back.
>contrarian luddite and sour-grapesing
there's also a subset who don't like *some* modern features or nannies, but are perfectly content with heated seats and carplay
Some features can be good and improve safety, like back up cams and blind spot monitoring, or improve comfort like bluetooth connectivity. Some shit is completely gay and moronic like traction control, stability control, lane keep assist, automatic rev matching, automatic start stop, electronically adjusted seats, whatever else I'm missing
>Blind spot monitoring
Worthless if you know how to adjust your side view mirrors and shoulder check. Maybe if you're driving a Camaro it might come in handy, or another car with c pillars so massive you can't see behind you past 90 degrees. Do brodozers need it? Maybe you wouldn't be able to see a Miata on your right if you had a lift, I guess.
It’s called a blindspot because you cant see it
Yes that is the definition of blind spot, but that's not what I asked. Normal cars do not have blind spots unless your mirrors are aligned incorrectly and you simultaneously do not have full range of neck motion.
Well the problem is morons have their side mirros adjusted so half the view is obstructed by the vehicle itself, and what isn't obstructed overlaps with the rear view anyway
Fair enough. I used to do this until I read how to do it correctly. (The side mirrors act as an extension of the rear, with no image overlap.) They really should teach that in drivers ed.
>The problem is morons
Yet we actively try to stop natural selection
If you can acknowledge the safety aspect of blind spot monitoring there's no reason you shouldn't like esc/tc assuming they are easily defeatable when you want.
the cars b***hing at me or vibrating the steering wheel when it incorrectly detects that it thinks i might crash are infuriating
any car with safety janny features i cant disable belongs in the trash
>I drive a malaise shitbox
Me too but I swapped in a early 70s pre-smog rocket 350 in it.
honestly being a true car guy is sacrificing a comfortable and practical car for something that just makes u happy driving it
I only own old cars and they're all worth over 20k€
hoe's mad
my car has electric windows, central locking, electric mirrors, radio with aux input, air conditioning. it cost me less than $500. troony.
The “features” being added to newer vehicles are shit tho. If I had unlimited money I’d just buy and fix up vehicles from the late 90’s-2006 or so since that’s when cars peaked in terms of style, reliability, safety(seatbelts, airbags and ABS is all you need), and driver experience.
New cars are just iPads with wheels that throw constant distractions at you and will soon begin charging micro transactions for basic features like trunk access and using the AC.
Lol i drove nothing but 80s and 90s cars for 16 years then got something newer and fricking hate it.
Yup. Wound up selling my wife's car and it's her Rav4 now. I went back to my mid 90's 16mpg boats.
16mpg boats are based that’s why the israelites don’t want us to have them
King.
Welcome to DA, I hope you enjoy your stay.
new cars are ugly tho
God I hate Chrysler 300s
Well you really took a low hanging fruit. BMW design has been a joke since the X7, that culimated with the 4 series
you cherry picked the only good looking modern car
Your thread is shit
>every feature my car doesn’t have is shit!
my car had AC and I removed it because it's shit, what now homosexual?
>I actually enjoy busrider posts more because they aren’t this negative and bitter
Nah. Interactions with obvious busriders usually pertains to some inane opinions that they're trying to pass off as fact when some very easily google'd results when prove that opinion to be fundamentally wrong (ie: hp/L, FWD bad, pickups for towing only, automatic bad, etc).
>hp/L
>fwd
Cope
Because it’s true.
I'm a Luddite rather than sour grapes. So many of the new features are outright unnecessary
>The all new 2023 Porsche cayenne now with adaptive fart noise eliminator. Fart with confidence as our white noise speaker system hides unpleasant audio emanating from your bunghole
Hell, despite my car having working AC I refuse to use it 95% of the time only when I go through Arizona or a freeway trip that I can't realistically have my windows down do I bother with ac
>because they aren’t this negative and bitter
lol.
lmao.
