>all $5000 or less
I've had the damn thing hidden so long that I forgot what was actually in it. A late model manual fiesta? An E60 5 series (that's not trashed)? LS430? A fricking Boxster with under 150k miles, and all of them under $5k? Almost nothing at all on the list is relevant anymore, it's absolutely laughable and kind of sad.
We really need a sticky about how to wrench and maintain or restore some vehicles to a functioning order instead of consooming if you don't mind the meme, and what vehicles to buy because certainly some are cheaper and easier to work on that others, and just tips that aren't obvious to newbs like VW and Chevy being glorified Lego sets, geos being rebrand Suzuki and Toyotas often with heavy discounts, etc
It's in every sqt ccg org and other large thread at least 5 times 'how do I get into wrenching', 'all the cars for sale near me are busted', 'my car broke what do I do'
And a short sticky could do a lot better than answering individual questions
>tripgay >useful post
So wonders do happen.
Anyways, fully agree. We need a new sticky with what cars to get, what tools to get, how to wrench and that for both EU and US markets.
Whole 9 fricking yards. Guess that's a christmas holidays project.
>A fricking Boxster with under 150k miles, and all of them under $5k?
I can find boxsters for around 10k with low mileage. When the chart was made you could probably get them for 5k.
The only way we could make a similar chart is to start including motorcycles and e scooters and even then we can't reccomend anything solid. One state's expensive gold car is another states trash
there's always some butthole in threads like this >well I got desirable car for $3000 you are all dumbasses who just can't search right and can't wrench I'm awesome I'm gonna out my fingers in my ears lalalala
>2013 fr-s the worst possible year and rebuilt titles dont dip below $13k >2004 350z rebuilt title...$8k more commonly over $10k >90s civics absurdly inflated and run into the ground
These are the last days of this hobby. When nobody gives a frick about actually providing an entry level. It's over. The next generation has given up on cars. And it's fun to blame zoomers and say they're low test and moronic. But no fricking way would I entertain a car hobby if I was being told the average new car is $45k, the type r is $60k OTD, and old horribly abused cars are over $5k
A day is coming when 90s and 2000s cars will be as expensive as and rare as 60s cars are now. >You WILL have a GPS unit that reports your position to the manufacturer, software company, and government. >You WILL pay for the subscription seat heaters >You WILL allow the government and manufacturer to have a remote kill switch >You WILL have a fully computerized car >You WILL forego your privacy and let your backup camera record and send every thing to the NSA >You WILL go electric >You WILL allow the insurance company to total your gas-burning vehicles over a minor dent >You WILL NOT reverse engineer the hardware of your car and attempt to write an Open Source OS for your car >You WILL NOT service your own car >You WILL NOT have the ability to exceed speed limits >You WILL NOT own the soulless plastic bubble they call a car >You WILL NOT modify it >And you WILL be happy
this is the dystopian orwelian future ppl laughed at and thought would NEVER EVER happen..
i hate being born into "Generation Hopeless"
i can barely cling on each day to not want to kms
yet im terrified of the unknown of death..
i just want to live in a friendly mountain town with a cute wife, dog, catto, and 2 kids driving around in a fun sporty car and working a half decent job i enjoy and have the purpose and life meaning of providing and raising a well adjusted happy family..
>WHEN THE FRICK DID THIS ^^ BECOME A PIPE FRICKING DREAM??
our grandparents would laugh if they knew this was alot of our fantasies and pipedreams because it was such an easy life to have and get. women were good, most men were decent, jobs paid frick ton even for the most entry of jobs, houses were affordable, your neighborhood loved you and you loved your neighborhood..
sometimes i wonder if its just me getting older or me looking back on the past with rose tinted glasses..
but a very very REAL part of me genuinely believes things REALLY WERE MUCH MUCH MUCH easier, nicer, honest, and better just a few generations ago..
and how very quickly its gone to absolute dog shit..
the peak of a society or empire SHOULD NOT last ONE FRICKING GENERATION..
thats absolutely PITIFUL.
I like how everyone has just given up and gets rolled over. The think about cyberpunk is that there are actual punks. But cyberpunk never predicted that there could be no holes the Everyman could take advantage of. It's so absolute and all encompassing. The tech is all so backdoored and the stuff were allowed to have is so carefully managed
I think we’re kinda living in a transitionary state towards cyberpunk.
Usually in a cyberpunk setting the government is either completely dysfunctional or just ceases to exist, which means that corpo’s get free reign but also there isn’t a government to restrict stuff like weapons, drugs and other pleasures (also boring stuff like zoning laws, taxation and shitty regulations).

Couldn't I be born a little later so I'm not a geriatric frick when things get bad or earlier so I can actually enjoy the good times

i recently heard about it a few months back..
and honestly? as a buddhist it sortve makes sense or seems very very plausable..

We’ll be the lost generations before our society sets into its (likely) final form.
So go buy a nice car, try to get a house and enjoy what you have and can get.

We've just got to fight it ever way we can, lads. Get yourselves 2000s and earlier cars, if your home has "smart home" stuff in it get rid of those things, leave your listening-device/cellphone at home when you can, install gentoo, use Libre software, learn skills that make you less dependent on mega-corporations, avoid junk food and learn to cook basic things, buy local, own a firearm and become proficient in using it to defend yourself, develop a love for nature, don't let video games and your bed become your one-way time machine to the future, learn to control your impulses, be generous, get fit, become courageous, go to church, and pass these values on to your children.
Changes in the individual will eventually produce changes in culture.

relevant to dinosaurs, the future is now, old man. We’re in the age of owning nothing and liking it
No, and they are updating the sticky for the upcoming merger with /n/ to make /no/
I, for one, hope they never update it. It's very much of it's time, but I don't wanna live in the now and the sticky helps with that.
I get this.
You guys should see the original sticky
>This is what they took away from you
Br/o/s....
yeah as most cars that should've been <$5k by now are still inflated
Whats the dealio with small trucks under 150k miles now days? What should I look for boys?
they should just remove the sticky because jannies probably all ride the fricking bus.
We really need to make a new one.
I have a Ranger I bought for $200 and after my friend rockauto and $2,000 I'm looking at selling it for $9,000.
Market is absolutely fricked.

id switch to motorcycles if owning one wasn't such a pain in the ass
Motorcycles just don't seem viable in a Wyoming winter, especially if you want to have a good amount of emergency supplies "just in case."
